I am getting ready to replace my 4 year cell phone. There's no more room for up dates, and I have some duct tape holding it together. It still works fine though.

I am on an unlimited everything plan. I average between 60-70 MBs  a month usage. I am always on it. Checking this, texting people, fantasy nfl/nba/mlb,  social stuff, video games, streaming tv shows, and movies. In fact the least used part of my phone is actually making phone calls. My Grand Daughter calls me a "cell junkie".

So how much do you use your cell, and is 70 MBs a month alot?

I’m at 2.9 GB and I use WiFi a ton.

Four days left in my month.

Not even considered a little these days.

My kids average 30 to 50 Gbytes high speed per months, but the use theirs for school as well. They also use WiFi a lot.

Get the Tmobile One plan. If you use less than 2Gbytes then you get a $10 kickback. They also have a "55+ Couples plan" for a lot less and unlimited.

Yeah, I purposely save stuff to read offline, limit social media usage and no video/music streaming and average 1 gigabyte a month. If I let myself do all you can eat, will easily consume 3-5 gigabytes a month - it's the social media and to some extent, music/video that gets you. 70 megabytes a day is around 2 gigabytes a month.

I am on my home and work wifi and I still average 3GB per month. 70MB wouldn't get me through a normal day.

At home? Forget about it. Streaming Netflix, Amazon, YouTube, HBO, etc... guessing 20 GBs minimum a month.

70 MB looks like a mistake because its allmost nothing. Sure you don’t use 70GB?

Right now my phone tells me I have used 33510 +/- MBs since December 2nd.  I know last month I used 71178 MBs according to my phone. So yeah, maybe I did  mean GBs.  My bad.

I know I have an 8GB hot spot that gets used up pretty fast when I use my roku device.

2 GB used this month (21 days in).  My data plan gives me 4.5 GB a month.

Accidentally turn off your wifi and run a movie on your cell data plan, you're toast. Overage fee incurred. Wifi only on streaming apps is very useful.

1024 MB = 1 GB ... so, roughly 69.51 GB in November.

Try desperately for an unlimited plan.

I don't understand how people can use so much data through their mobile phones...

I use ~1.5 GB/mo average on my phone (non-wifi). But I don't use a lot of wifi on my phone because if I'm on wifi.., I'M AT HOME. So I'm not usually putzing around on my phone. Work won't let me use their wifi and I don't trust any wifi networks other than my own and my work's.

And that's even including me occasionally checking on the house with 5 IP cameras streaming, checking to see if my dog is being a little turd or not!

I'm on Project Fi. I love it. I got in on the $200 Nexus 5X deal (my wife and I both did). Saves a ton of money over Verizon, only paying for data we use, at $10/GB.

Luckily I am on  an unlimited plan. I pay $50.00 a month for it. Never any complaints from my provider.

If you have a commute on public transportation, can easily burn through data, especially if no underground wifi or commuter train is above ground and train has no wifi. Some cities only recently got wifi on their buses and trains.

Those social network apps burn through data - you'd think it's just text, but whatever they're sending back and forth, it's a lot of data. Plus as you scroll by video, it autoplays. Don't even get me started on Facebook, which I purposely don't even install.

Stream a movie on your phone, that's like 750 megabytes. I'm always curious to see what people do on their phones on the train, I'm a nosey body. I see a lot of people watching video on the train.

IP cameras don't you just scrub right through? Most video is static, unless you have a camera that has a moveable head.

Video may look static but it's typically feeding constantly. Depends on your settings. But just because it's the same "static" imagine doesn't mean it's not downloading it over and over again. I have different "record" video encoding settings than I do streaming settings (streaming is typically lower quality so that you don't have a HUGE data usage hit). I have 5x 4MP IP cameras I've installed around our house. If I streamed those at the highest quality, that would be some hella data usage! but instead I stream them at ~150 kbps ea. But if I'm live feeding from all 5 cameras at once then that's 0.75 mbps. Of course, I'm just checking on the dog usually, which only takes a couple seconds.

Edit: I also don't use any social media platforms like FB, twitter, instagram, etc.

    • Day 314 - Putting some things together. Better grip/setup, fuller backswing, better finishing position. Filmed some swings, happy with the progress.
    • Day 130: did a stack session.
    • Day 206 (24 Nov 24)  - An easy session with the 54deg wedge and hard foam balls / one simple goal - distance control thru backswing length while not decelerating.  Had a playing partner comment they noticed me decelerating on a couple short wedge shots in last round.  Hit from distances from close to 40yds down to 20.
    • Musgrove Mill hole #15 was converted to a par 3 after Hurricane Helene. Today, I had 145 from the tee which is a perfect 9-iron for me. I aimed just right of the hole and pulled it a few feet. Clanked off the stick down into the hole and ricocheted out of the hole 13’ away. Drained the putt for a birdie after repairing the hole which was damaged . Not sure if it would have counted as a HIO, but I was pretty excited!
    • Day 55 - 2024-11-24 Did five levels of Operation 36 on GSPro (different courses). 🙂 Was -4 from 200 yards (32) intentionally laying up on each hole (i.e. not hitting a 5I or something). Shot… 22, 24, 26 from 25, 50, and 100 yards. I forget my 150-yard score, but obviously it was < 36. Putting was odd… (and I did it with the wedge or a 7I or whatever was in my hand).
