Day 68: Range day! Worked on my drill for the majority of the session. Probably (definitely) went too fast with it, but I'm getting a decent feel for it. At the end, hit about 10 balls, just focusing on start line and curve. Very pleased with those results. Still work to be done, but feeling like I'm in a good spot for March.

Day 69: Nice mirror work on my drill today. Still need to be a little better on dropping the club, but it’s looking nice overall.

Seeing as my unlimited golf card is contingent on walking. Off with the wife and dogs for some more “conditioning “.

Day 133, March 13, 2023

Hit balls for 15 minutes before lessons today. Tweak to the backswing, but mostly continued downswing work.

    • Last 5 rounds have been 82, 83, 87, 80, 83. Overall during this time SG are equal to 10 handicap. Full swing strokes gained stats are a bit confusing. Gaining off the tee, but losing an equal amount in approach, usually these two sync up a bit more since they are full swing stats. Off the tee is usually a little better than approach probably because I hit the ball farther than average for my handicap, but they have never been complete opposites. I need to think on this more, but on the tee I am very meticulous about target/alignment, and I am not sure if I take the same care on approach shots. If I change this habit, at least I will know if there is some mechanical issue, or just poor target alignment. Still gaining in short game, but losing in putting. Prior to this year putting has always been positive strokes gained, and looking at the numbers putts inside 10 feet are the culprit. Probably need to work on this, especially inside 5 feet.
    • Seeking guidance from the collective wisdom of experienced players. I am still struggling with a back&ankle injury but keen to start my journey with some home putting practice so when I head to the course it's a smoother transition. Looking for drills I can do at home, ideally on carpet/laminate (garden would be considered dee rough), I dont have any special cup/greeb equipment but if you can recommend cheap options I'll take a look. Space is finite best areas would be around 8-10x3ft. Previously checked drills but all seem to be more on the green or bigger areas.
    • Day 10: 5 months into the year and I haven't done a much work on my grip, which is something I want to get right once and for all. Today I worked on longer thumb on the lead hand, and holding the club tighter so the grip doesn't slide into palm. Hit 30 balls just focusing on this. Start line was all over the place, but contact was good, and I think in the long run I will learn to control the face better with this grip than a looser, short-thumb grip that slides around during backswing and transition.
    • Little nostalgia for everyone. The first one I had I bought was at Ramstein AFB when I was in the Army in Germany.  It look ridiculous with a gigantic head. I had a metal wood with a steel shaft, we saw this thing and we all bought one. I think it was like 50 bucks. I don't remember the brand. It was like a buggy whip. I don't think I ever got a straight hit off of it.  This would have been late '92 time frame.
    • Birdies for the Brave offers free passes for the Pro-Am on Wednesday if you are a veteran or active, etc. Other than that I don't know of any deals. They offer deals for all the tour events. I used to go to the Tour Championship for a really good discount through them.
