"5 Minutes Daily" Practice Challenge

Day 62 (28 Apr 23) an easy day, due to the rain, of short pitches with 9i and LW in heavy wet grass.   Focus on setup and observing how ball reacted off club face.  Like working on shots in less than optimal settings as this helps when the shot gets in trouble on the course (which happens less these days).

Backswing feels lost right now, like I don’t know how to initiate the move. Skipped full swing and did some pitching/chipping instead.

Day 37: 60 minutes of full swing and 30 minutes of short game. Finished Stack training Foundation yesterday and wanted to see if I could hit 111. I couldn’t but I did hit 110 once and 109 a few times. Most were around 106-107, and my previous average hovered around 104. Did Stack putting test. No 3 putts and made 7 putts but still lost strokes. Eager to complete next session.

Day 63 (29 Apr 23) - Worked on pitches with the 52 followed by bump and runs with the 8i.  Focus was on distance control  by keeping club speed up and trusting the swing.  Averaged 3 of 5 being on target - distances averaged around 25 yds.

Realised that I’ve fallen behind on my updates…

Day 33/34: Apr 27/28

Essentially a duplicate practice: at-home drills, working on takeaway and transition, continuing to groove the correct swing path.

Day 35/36: Apr 29/30

Range sessions. Sat started well, but went downhill midway through due to poor ball striking. Much better session today; returned to my focus of not overswinging (for me that’s an overcocking of my wrists which results in opening the clubface). There’s still excessive left-to-right ball movement with 3-wood, but it’s a lot better than it was six months ago.

Day 40:

Played 18 this morning. Didn't hit the ball well with driver, but approach play made up for it. Mostly low event golf, bogeys and pars. Had a double and triple bogey on the back 9, both the result of poor recovery shots.

Day 64 (30 Apr 23) - Today was a rinse, repeat of yesterday's drills only a little more focused on the bump and run.  Did a ladder type drill where I set up 7 balls a little over a yard apart with the closest to the hole around 20yds and the farthest about 30.  Goal was to have most (>4) finish within a club length of the pin.  Was reasonably successful as with getting 3-4 on average within the cup.   Most misses were short of the cup, usually from me failing to commit to the shot.

Day 181, April 30, 2023

Worked on the super cupping and throwing behind stuff from 2020 and from quite recently. 😄

This is a self-policed topic @MrLeek, but…

Day 7 - Did The Stack program at home then hit balls, chipped, and putted at the range.

Focused on my hip priority piece with irons and alignment with driver. I was lining up significantly further right than I realized, like to the point where even my clubface was point well right of my intended target.

Day 38: Stack progress measurement. Hit 103, which is a little less than I was hitting at the range yesterday. I start neural trading Thursday, which may be delayed due to a conflict. Chipped and putted indoors.

    • Amber Alerts have helped many Clildrdn at risk but this early morning’s alert has raised a question. First, I will say it is great the 3 year old was found safe which is by and far the most important thing.  My question is with the timing of the alert. My understanding is with missing children time is very critical and the longer a child is missing increases the risk of a bad ending. So, I am not upset that I got startled awake at 2:21am this morning by the Amber Alert.  What I do question is that if they knew the child was missing in a stolen car at 11:15pm Why wait over 3 HOURS to put out the Amber Alert??? 3-year-old Michigan girl found safe; Amber Alert canceled An Amber Alert issued for 3-year-old Kemahanni King was canceled after police say she was found.

    • I called it back on January 26th, he would go to LIV. I adjusted my prediction a few days later to being part of the 54 man field rather than a team. Now my next prediction is a -10 challenge with Rick Shiels. 12 months from now we will have all forgotten about him.
