Day 13: busy weekend, but got in some more mirror work. Same stuff as before, still working on speeding it up a little bit.

Day 37: May 1

A short practice session in a practice net (30 shots or so) working on developing & maintaining the correct club path. This was followed by a longer short game practice session, working on ball striking and distance control of 1/4 and 1/2 wedge shots (both GW and SW). After a slightly shaky start, ended up with some tight dispersions; recent play has been plagued by inaccurate pitch shots so good to see the consistency coming through.

Edit: just read my faux pas about bulk posting. Won’t happen again @iacas 🫣

Day 65 (01 May 23) - Worked on impact today with 6i, alignment rods and hard foam balls.  Set up to have one rod perpendicular to swing path lying on the ground about 6 - 8" behind the ball (to promote ball first contact) and second one set on angle towards me to act as centering point (keeping head still).  Kept swings to around 1/2 to 3/4.

Day 13. Tweaked my right shoulder yesterday so took it easy today and just did a few slow swings working on backswing and transition feels.

Day 182, May 1, 2023

Cup and throw. Cup and throw. And I'm not talking about farts.

Day 62 (02 May 23) - walked the front nine at Minnesott, as I was solo did a two ball better ball format.  Used the round to work on swing tempo using phrase “1  - 2 then follow on thru” to keep it consistent.  The work on tempo helped slow down my rushing thru the swing.

Day 14. Shoulder feels better but I only did about 20 minutes of chipping, pitching and slower swings with a 9 iron indoors. I want it to heal before Erie.

Day 38: May 2

Played 18 holes and set a new PB, despite recording an eight(!!) on the 1st! Put the hole out of my head (I just laughed it off), knuckled down and played a good chunk of golf. Some bad shots here and there but minimised the damage and moved on.

Day 183, May 2, 2023

Spent five or ten minutes hitting a few balls with the same feels that I had in 2020, but which also re-committed to here:

  • Cup the hell out of the left wrist going back.
  • Let fall/throw (a combo of both) the club "behind" me with the right arm.

The ball goes left if I don't do the first thing well.

Day 9 - Short range session working on Evolvr feedback, then more dry reps at home and rolled some putts at home.

Ballstriking was really really good at the range, although I liked what I saw on video in the dry swings at home better than what I saw on video at the range.

Day 15: did some rehearsal swings today, working on feeling the club coming more from the outside on the downswing.

Day 67 (03 May 23) - More work with the impact drill of using an alignment rod perpendicular to the swing path about 6" behind the ball to reinforce hitting the ball first.  Used the 6i and hard foam balls.  Definitely audible when I get to too steep and the click of the club nicking the rod resounds.

    • I have a feeling that for a spell Woody Austin (who from memory may have led the Masters after the first round on about 14 occasions) was putting one-handed, while looking at the hole and pointing at the hole with his other hand. Golfers are crazy people. To add - when I played with people I didn't play with often and was doing the heads up putting, it was always a few holes in that someone would say incredulously "wait - were you looking at the hole when you hit that?" Actually made me feel a little self conscious while doing it - in a "I wonder if they'll notice it this time" way

    • I seem to remember Jordan Spieth did this for a while. Not sure if he still does.
    • A serve in tennis is a better analogy I think. The ball is fairly static and you're hitting it with an implement of some description and if you don't hit it with the right part of the implement, it's not going to end well.  I've tried heads up putting a few times. I think I'm backwards from most. I find it much more useful on the shorter ones than longer putts. I'm better at starting it on line and speed is less likely to be off using it. On longer putts where speed is more important, I apparently judge speed by watching (at least peripherally) my putter head. If I'm not looking at it, I lose speed control, even though that's the bit that is allegedly improved by heads up putting.
    • I own a stealth plus 1 with an X 60 gram shaft. with a head weight of around 200 grams. Every club I test feels heavy so I removed the back weight and it felt better, also gained me 2 mph of club speed. It still feel heavy for me so I wanted to try something lighter. Are there any other drivers lighter than 190g? Are there heavier drivers but when you remove the stock weight you can lower it below 190g? Can a 40g shaft help the issue?   I know that all of this is going to bring down the swingweight to the C category and I'm totally ok with it. I love the feel of the club when I add 50 grams to the grip but it also get too heavy in total weight so I don't get faster with it, even I loose a bit of speed. Any suggestions?
