Day 51 (12/11/21) - More putting practice today.  Did several drills on the PuttOUT mat after warm up including:

1) Ladder drill - make every putt from 1'-6'; made "perfect putts" on 4 of 6.

2) Pace drill - Place the ball between 2 dotted lines on the mat from different distances

3) Line drill - Putt down the line on the mat.

After a couple of weeks of experimentation, I have decided to switch to arm lock putting for 2022, to much of this offseason will be spent on putting. Bottom line the reason is that I put a much more consistent roll on the ball with this technique.

I live on the course. I like to hit 50 different wedge backswings with different clubs. 50 7:30 swings with 60degree. Then 50 9:00 them 50 10:00. Then I move to my next wedge and repeat. I can usually get on the bottom of the range and play circle the flags from different distances. I’ve dropped 10 strokes off my average this year.

Day 133:

Did some work on transition move, and also Covid-19 day 6/7 short game drills.

Day 411: worked on driver today with a few of the same drills. Filmed them. I was coming a bit over the top of some of the early drill swings, but corrected the issue going back to a few basic feels.

Day 52 (12/12/21) - Nice day today so I did some chipping practice in the yard. Worked on the bump and run (basically a "chitch"/"pip" motion) shot with 7 Utility iron through 54* wedge. Hit 6 shots with each club, trying to use the same motion. I focused on making good contact and noticing the carry distance (I had a towel about 7-yards from where I hit from).

Interestingly, carry distances weren't that different, regardless of the club I was using, for well struck shots.

Day 134:

Played 18 on a cold and wet morning. Heavy rain predicted, but it was mostly drizzle to light at worst, but cold and windy. Only took 7 clubs on account of the weather forecast. Played okay, but somewhere around the 5th hole, I tweaked a muscle in my back, which limited mobility for the rest of the round.

Day 5 (12 Dec 21) - Chipping work in the backyard off "tight lies" (using the small practice pad) and "regular" lies - the dead grass in the backyard.  The goal was to make consistent contact that neatly clipped the ball off the tight lie and then replicating the same with the ball in the grass.  Worked with the 58 and PW in this drill.

Day 6 (13 Dec 21) - Worked on club delivery through P5 through P8 with the 5i.  Rehearsing this has been part of each day's drill other than putting.  Ended the session with hard foam balls and the old Tommy Armour 845s Silver Scot 3i.  Under full swing the ball flies about 70 yds.  Thankfully I have neighbors that don't mind me hitting from their yards.

    • Okay, I'm genuinely curious about this "biodegradable leather" trend in golf. Are we talking snake oil here? I mean, golf balls, clubs... they all end up in the water eventually. Is this just greenwashing, or is there actually a real environmental benefit? And honestly, does it even perform as well as traditional leather? I don't want to sacrifice distance for the planet, you know? Anyone with real-world experience with these eco-friendly golf goods? Spill the tea!
