Day 2:

Starting over as of yesterday, since I don't feel like tracing my previous posts to see if my streak is alive or not.

Played 18 this morning, didn't lose a single ball or have any penalty strokes, which was encouraging after not practicing much last week due to illness. Short game was terrible today, which is unusual because normally I gain strokes against my handicap and my target handicap in this area, but the motions all felt "off" for whatever reason. I was pretty solid off the tee except for a few skanky thin shots, and a few pulls that got knocked down short by trees, but none of them were excessively penal. Approach play was about normal for me, which is pretty meh lately.

Day 77, January 16, 2022

Hit a bunch of 8I today after some juniors, focusing on the wrists hinging but staying cupped (left) slightly, but hitting a parallel 2 and then going UP.

Day 25, 1/16/2022

Today was just putting drills. They didn't go well today. I started with the gate drill and I just couldn't seem to hit the ball through the gates. So, I did the cup drill and the line drill and it all kind of went badly. I'm just going to assume I had too much coffee. I'll try it again tomorrow.

Tomorrow will be a busy day. So, I'm only planning on mirror work and a repeat of my putting drills I did today.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Day 12: Mirror work again today. Still focused on set up. Thinking it looks pretty good, so I may start working on the next little thing in my backswing.

Day 26. 1/17/2022

Busy day today. So, I got up early and did my mirror work before heading out and shoveling the white death off my driveway. I also repeated yesterday's putting drills, because I felt that I did poorly yesterday and wanted to improve.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Day 86 (01/17/22) - Indoor practice today:

Putting - All on my PuttOUT mat; ladder drill (putts in 1' intervals from 1' to 6' not moving on until I made a perfect putt. Forgot to count the total number, but made perfect putts on the first try at 1', 2' and 4'); "gate" drill (10 consecutive 4' putts through a gate set at 3' without hitting the gate)

Wedges - With my Pitching wedge, practiced setup and back swing to positions A2, A3 and A4. Also practiced through swing from A2 and A2 focused on maintaining same tempo.

Day 78, January 17, 2022

Snow day, so I putted a little bit in the basement, and did some swings with a PVC in the living room while staring out at the snow.

Day 3:

Played 9 this morning. Another streak of no penalty strokes/lost balls. Shot 41, and hit the ball pretty well tee to green. Short game was better but still had some poor shots (thin/bladed pitch shots), so need to put in a little more practice to sharpen up and get back to my previous level.

We moved fast enough that I was able to get through holes 10-13 before heading home, so I treated these as on-course practice opportunity.

Day 40 (17 Jan 22) - Yard too soggy for anything outside, opted for putting drills today.  Practiced from 3ft up to 10ft.  Also went all putt putt with setups that forced 2 strokes to get to the hole.  Made for good work on lagging to where I was in position to sink the putt for the second shot.  I like this drill as there are more times than not I have to think "lag" putt to set up for the second.

Day 14: Did some putting work today, while on an interminable all-day conference call. Working on my set up mostly - getting my hands higher and my elbows more bent. Also working on being a bit more straight back with the stroke rather than coming inside a little too much.

    • Okay, I'm genuinely curious about this "biodegradable leather" trend in golf. Are we talking snake oil here? I mean, golf balls, clubs... they all end up in the water eventually. Is this just greenwashing, or is there actually a real environmental benefit? And honestly, does it even perform as well as traditional leather? I don't want to sacrifice distance for the planet, you know? Anyone with real-world experience with these eco-friendly golf goods? Spill the tea!
