Day 71 - Solid practice session. New setup looked good on camera and today was the best the ball striking has been with the new setup.

Day 23: Jul 5

Lesson went well. I can create a neutral clubpath if I focus on it…but it’s a little more sub-conscious now. Plus it’s not terrible when I just swing the club. It’s continuing to trend the right direction. Drills I’ve been doin were correct (good), just gotta “keep on keepin on” as they say.

Day 16 (6 Jul 23) - Setup, stance work today - focused on making abbreviated swings simulating green side up and down shots using 8i for bump and run and SW for pitches.  Like the focus these require to keep speed up thru the ball.

Day 248, July 6, 2023

I hung up a net in GE3.0. Does that count?

Day 24: Jul 6

Range session, some good some bad (but generally acceptable). The feel of making a complete turn and trying to keep the club behind me seems to be creating a better clubpath, resulting in some very good shots. Some of my shots seem to have me chopping down on the ball a little too heavily - least I think that’s what happening.

Little evidence of my bad miss (weak slice); been working on keeping the club square during backswing which I think is contributing to that.

Day 25: Jul 7

Played 14 holes (slightly pressed for time); two drives off the tee, pick the better option and played from there. Promptly played bogey golf…and I couldn’t buy a putt (I must have run 6-7 putts within a holes width of the hole). I was aiming to prove to myself that I can do what I think I can do: quite often both drives were playable, or the first drive was the better option. Need to work on better execution of 75-125 yd shots; sometimes caused by poor shot selection.

Day 73 - Hit balls, chipped, and putted. Did some bunker work too.

Iron contact was incredible today, getting used to the new setup now.

Driver was ok, wasn't flushing it but my misses were much more on the planet than they have been in the past so that's a big win.

Chipping and putting were solid, spent some time with 54 and 58 in the bunker, was quite pleased with my longer bunker shots.

Day 17 (7 Jul 23) - Continued the Prescot setup drills I’ve been working on, today full on swings w/7i and had foam balls.  Good part is I start on level surfaces and the return shots are on small uphill and downhill allowing for adjustment of setup/stance for uneven surfaces.

Still sore. Did some right arm motions while watching the USWO, though.

    • Day 191 (09 Nov 24) - After band rehearsal and afternoon yard work, broke out the 8i and hard foam balls to work on low pitches.  Main emphasis was on foot (especially the lead) position, hip rotation and ball position.  Spent time between each shot reflecting on the results of the previous swing. Making small adjustments as needed.
    • Seconding the aimpoint thing. I had a tournament a couple of weeks ago. Had a putt from the fringe about 25 feet. I looked at it and I thought it looked flat, then went to do my aimpoint and I was trying to figure out the left right break, but realized I was on quite a downslope. Turned sideways to do it the other way and estimated about a 3% slope downhill. Basically straight. It was on a green with two tiers and I was all on the top tier. It's a hole that's benched into a slope and I think relative to the slope around me it just looked flat. My feet told me otherwise and I hit that putt like it was six inches and got it to tap in distance. If I had only relied on my eyes I'd have been chipping from off the green (literally - greens were very fast and the hole was only 6-8 feet from the tier. That ball would have gone off the green. When I got in the clubhouse afterwards people were talking about how many putts they had on that green. Combine that with my having four-putted 4 holes earlier (another tier was involved in that one except I had to go down it). I was thanking my lucky stars I did the aimpoint check. Use your feet. It might take you a little while to get used to it, but once you do, it's golden.
    • Agree.  Look at it from the side to determine if it's uphill or downhill. Also, look at the hole and determine the highest point of the hole.  That's the direction of uphill, at least near the hole.
