Day 245, July 3, 2023

Went to the range at WW with about 60 balls. Left after about 40. It was getting VERY hot and steamy.

Day 14 (4 Jul 23) - Drill today using hard foam balls, worked on set-up focusing on a slightly closed stance.  For kicks - used  a few of the “old” clubs for the drill - H&B Persimmon driver, Tony Peña Persimmon 5w and MacGregor Mike Souchak 3i.  Definitely a different feel/sound of the balls (even hard foam) coming off the face.

Day 22: Jul 4

Was originally planning to play 18 holes, but still not quite shaken the cold I’ve been struggling with. So plan B: more indoor backswing drills & putting on a matt. Lesson tomorrow to make sure what I’ve been doing is correct (god I hope so!).

Day 70 - Range work focusing on setup positioning. Going to take some time to get adjusted to it but going to try and progress slowly through my upcoming priority pieces and make sure they are solid before moving on.

Did some partial wedge work too, everything is about 10yds longer now so I'm working on getting used to that.

Did TheStack session too this evening.

Day 1: 7/5/2023:

Played my Wednesday Night Golf League tonight.
Shot a 42. I made a really costly mistake on the final hole. Ugh...

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

    • I often saw a difference. Mature players - "Oh dear, that's a bit of a mess you've got yourself into." The pros - "Sorry. That's a penalty." The juniors - "Can I help?"
    • updated swing notes Setup  Straighter legs, Bend at hip, weight is at balls of feet.  Engage legs and core more. Helps with hip turn and using me left leg.   More grip pressure in left hand.  Backswing Left arm stays closer to body from P1-P2. Hinge sooner from the wrists. Arms and hands go straight up from P2-P3, and Feel like club is more vertical at P3.  Keep the width between hands and right shoulder. Straighter right arm.  Shift weight to left foot at P3. Downswing Extending left leg initiates hands down.  Start hands down with flexing of left wrist.  Keep on turning right side through impact.
    • Thanks.  I think I knew going in that I had lots to learn about being an official, and it made sense all along that those selected for the more important events would be those with more experience.  Now apparently I'm one of those.  Even so, I still enjoy the junior events as much as anything else I do.
    • The stuffy old white guys want Jason Day to tone down his outfits. How much can they lean on him to comply? Would they threaten to remove him from the field? Honestly I can't stand those guys and their stupid jackets and their hideous khakis
    • Man, I was worried I was going to nail 5 out of 5 on the overswing causes 🤣.
