Breed has been on GC for awhile now, hasn't he? That's the thing about TV though, no matter how well known you are, popularity wanes, attention spans are short, management always wants a new face to keep things fresh.

The Man Out Front wasn’t surprised to hear first of Cameron McCormick’s Golf Channel hiring and now Sean Foley’s — both are Revolution Golf-affiliated instructors who also happen to work some of the game’s best players.

Actually, it’s who will not be back on Golf Channel airways that will turn a few heads: longtime Golf Fix host Michael Breed has departed.

Could have seen that coming when the GC bought Revolution Golf.

Didn't mind Breed...he was a bit too high energy but that's kinda necessary for TV.  Just a little too much for me like he just took a handful of shots of expresso.

Will be interested to see what type of format that Foley and McCormick are used.  Breed was (I believe) 100% a TV instructor.  These guys have a bunch of students/players they have to manage as well.

Fairways and Greens.

Breed taught at his club in New York during the week and flew to Orlando on weekends to record The Golf Fix, I believe.

I think Sean Foley is doing a "Playing Lessons" type thing.

I never bothered watching Golf Fix but I don't mind Breed when he does commentary. Curious to see how Foley's show is and if he starts doing more things for GC.

Thats too bad.   I like Michael Breed..   you don't really learn much from those shows, but they're enjoyable to watch and Michael Breed as a pretty unique personality.

Looks like Michael Breed is off the Golf Channel:

I would tune in once in a while, but his enthusiasm typically got the better of me and I couldn't watch for long. I will be interested to see what The Golf Channel has in mind in terms of its instructional series; I have seen Foley in internet videos. In terms of being hyper, he is polar opposite of Breed.

I enjoyed the other Playing Lessons series TGC had, but the hosts were never my cup of tea. I am hoping Foley will bring some better insight than they did if they keep a similar format.

Golf Channel can get the "big names", glitz it up, but AFAIC, what's on the web already now will blow away what they can come up with ten times over. All I hope is that it "does no harm". If I'm wrong, I will gladly watch and sing its praises.

I could never take more than 5 minutes of Breed.  He made me nervous.  Too many gadgets, talked too fast and flitted all over the place.

Isn't Foley very much a trackman/mechanical type of guy?  If so, I'll enjoy his stuff quite a bit (I like to not just learn the feel needed to get the correct mechanics, but to also know why that works and what the physics is)

Though I can't imagine anyone being able to relate much in a "TV/McLesson" for everyone type of format that the GC tries to convey.  Maybe this guy can manage it?

Nothing against Breed, but a bit obnoxious for my taste.  I'm not a fan of the guy with the accent either.  "hit it like Rory, Pitch it like Phil" etc etc etc ad nauseum.  There's no magic "trick" or "fix"...

Is it really Breed's fault though? TV producers and people who run the show want anything that is telecasted to be succinct and simplified. Is the way programs are made just not suited to golf instruction at all?

No. He understands those things, but no good instructor actually teaches that way.

I liked Breed just because I felt I could actually understand some of the things he taught...unfortunately I knew too many golfers that liked him and the other GC type shows so much that they were always just practicing whatever drill they were told to do the night before even if they didn't really have a problem in that area...at least to my untrained eye they didn't. I guess it was a little bit of "webMd " syndrome. I heard about the problem so I must have it!

I liked Holly Sonders when she had her Playing lessons from the Pro's show.  Several of the PGA Tour guys and LPGA ladies gave lessons as they played and Holly was ever so easy on the eyes as well.
