I will never play against you, so you have no fear.

I joined this forum to learn about my game and how to play the game better.

I didn't have that fear. I said I didn't care that much, but I was curious, and expressed that curiosity.

There's no better forum out there for learning about your game, with more high-quality content based on actually playing better golf.

Thank you, but I received a reply from someone who clarified the issue. I don’t cheat at anything but I complain about a lot :)

OK. I thought you were saying get rid of them because I ignore them.

Yes, the rules of golf are not all that complicated. That is until you get a foursome in competition and someone gets into trouble! Then you'll get four different opinions on how to proceed! I'm hoping that the new rules will clarify some things, especially around water hazards. One time, I and a buddy were playing a 2 man scramble against a couple of guys. We were tied coming into 18. My buddy bombed a long drive that wound up left of the fairway in Ground Under Repair. We took relief as per the rules, but one of our opponents, a belligerent a**hole, said we had to go back where the GUR started ( it was a long marrow strip up the left side of the fairway) and drop there. I started arguing when my partner hissed in my ear to forget it, he knew what club to hit. He rifled an iron to about 10 feet and we made the putt to beat them. And for those who think the rules of golf are complicated, has anyone out there actually read the NFL rule book? Hell! They can't even figure out what a catch is!

Actually, if you did as they said, you played from a wrong place and incurred a 2 stroke penalty, which probably lost the match.  Just had to point that out since, after all, this is the rules forum. ;-)

But assuming they were playing match play, in order for the results to be changed, their opponents would have had to challenge their action.  Since they didn't challenge it, the results stand, and @Buckeyebowman did indeed win the match.  And besides, they were playing a scramble, so who knows which of the RoG actually would have applied.

I see the wink. We did what they wanted just to stop their bitching! And, as Dave P043 pointed out, they only challenged our action when we dropped correctly!                        u
