Hello First Id like to say I am so happy Found this site. Sorry get to question.

I am new to golf, trying to learn. I have a used Tailor-made R580 driver would like opinions and reviews. But I slice REAL bad. I talked to one golf store about used Drivers and they mentioned something about "shaved shafts" ? supposed to help fix a slice?  Opinions? Is this something I can have done to my 580? should I try? or just take lessons ??

Welcome.  I've never heard of "shaft shaving"...not since the hickory days...and would not recommend the procedure (whatever it is).  A big slice is all down to operator error.  Seek professional guidance.  You'll want to get some idea of what square one is...you'll be returning to it, often, on your quest.  Bon chance.

In der bag:
Cleveland Hi-Bore driver, Maltby 5 wood, Maltby hybrid, Maltby irons and wedges (23 to 50) Vokey 59/07, Cleveland Niblick (LH-42), and a Maltby mallet putter.                                                                                                                                                 "When the going gets tough...it's tough to get going."

Welcome to The Sand Trap.

Equipment can only fine tune ball flight, not fix swing faults. I would recommend you create a My Swing thread in the Member Swings section. We can help you get your swing in better shape and reduce the slice.

Lessons will help too, but this is free and can get you started.

Chances are your swinging outside to in , what’s called over the top. The one driver that might help is an offset driver.

I, for one, have discovered my slice is due to operator error.  Once you develop consistency with your swing using the driver you have the slice will minimize itself.  It may return every now and then, but you will shave the skill to correct.

Pretty much this. ^^

No equipment can cure a slice.
