Hello everyone, my name is Micah and in from NC, and like the title says in a beginner golfer.

I tried to learn how to play a few years ago and quit out of frustration and now some guys at work talked me into getting the clubs back out and so here I am.

I have played a couple rounds so far and let's just say they both were forgettable at best, but I had fun and enjoyed be out on the course so mission accomplished on that at least.

I am going to post my swing on here and I am open to any and all comments, tips, etc.

I look forward to learning the game and getting better, and I would like to thank you guys and gals for all the information on here.

Welcome Micah. What is that European ?

My parents named me from the book in the bible of the same name. Not sure of the origin of the name originally.

Welcome to TST. As long as you are enjoying playing/practicing then you'll be able to improve. You've come to the right place if you need advice as there are some very experienced people here who are always happy to help.

Feel free to start a swing thread and if there is anything specific you want to work on then try the search function as you're sure to find something on here and if not start a thread.

My personal advice for a new golfer is dont get yourself down when things dont go to plan. Golf is hard and even the best of them have tough days at the "office". If you hit a bad shot then no problem, your next could be super.

You'll have days/weeks where you hit it so well you think "aha! i've cracked it", only to spend the next few rounds lurking in the tree's like David Attenborough. We've all been there, done that, got the tee shirt. Hell. i shanked a hybrid last week and almost killed my brother-in-law last week. He was in the trees as it was "safe". It was quite funny once his heart rate returned to normal :-D.

Anyway, hold on tight and enjoy the ride!. Golf.... the best rollercoaster in the world.

    • Day 23: weird day, and only had a little bit of time. Just did mirror work again, working on where the elbow is in the downswing
    • I flipped over to this tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. Anyone else watch? I picked it up during the golf relay event, but seeing these pros out having fun in alternative events was refreshing and entertaining. I’m sure it will be on in reruns in the next week or so, so I won’t spoil the outcome. Im curious what others thought of it. I’m recording it’s later airing to see the beginning.
    • Day 443 - 2025-12-17 Made a few swings in testing some things out at another academy. Might pop up on someone else's podcast in a few weeks.
    • Day 37 (17 Dec 25) - nine hole round with my good friend.  We got paired up with a couple of the men’s group regulars as part of their shootout.  Started off with a wonderful quad bogie and then a dbl on three to be six over thru three holes.  Game went 180° over the next five as I shot one under (including a chip in birdie on hole six and four up and down 1 putt pars) for a net finish of five over. What could have been a really tough nine became a solid finish due to staying in the moment and not checking out.  Great day in course management and keeping perspective .
    • Day 127 12-17 Backswing and flow practice. Took advantage of the 60 degeee weather(it was 20 degrees Sunday)
