So you don’t think theres a lot of tournaments that a lot of people don’t care about because of strength of field?

There may be, but if the better players were spread out across more events, you'd probably see less appeal in some of the better events like the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Memorial, and no doubt weaker fields in those events too. I think trying to make them all much the same would take away from that somewhat.

With Fedex cup points on offer as well as handsome purses, there'll always be at least a handful of big names at every tournament, so I think it's fine as it is.

I think he should be penaliced but not with a suspension, that´s against the spirit of the rule witch is to make him play more. He should be forced to add 2 new tournaments in his schedule and play a minimun of 27 tournaments next season.
Another harsh one it would be to give him negative points for the next fedex cup and ranking systems for 1 year.

Well instead of just taking away 3 tournaments (which could be 3 a player didn’t play in anyway) they could penalize by saying the player can’t play in 3 tournaments next year that he did play in. Maybe say his first three player of said year are now banned for him (unless one was a major). Maybe?

Me too. Does seem rather odd to penalize a player for not playing enough by having him play less.

Is it just me or are the options of a 'more than' 20,000 fine or a 3 tournament suspension grossly disproportional?

How about he forfeits the Fedex points he earned in the first 3 tournaments he plays?

But then again, what the hell do I know?

In general or just Spieth? What if the player didn’t earn any FedEx points?

Just curious.... Does anyone know if there any other players who did just qualify for East Lake to meet the minimum requirement?

Maybe somebody already answered this, but does this happen often?
