I backed that project and am interested to see how that works.

I don't dislike brushing my teeth, but I never am 100% confident that I'v done a really great job. Did I brush too much in one area and ignore another?

I also think there are probably better ways to do it, and this may be one of them. I'm interested to try this out, and see how effective it can be.

This looks cool, I'm going to back this as well. I grind my teeth so I have cavities in hard to reach spots. Interested to see how this does in regards to that.

This looks like a really cool idea, but I have one question: how many brushings does the UnoFoam last for? Is it a single use type deal, or is it meant to be used multiple times? How do you know when it's worn out/needs replacing if it's re-usable?

That's my main concern, since if you use this it sounds like you can't just buy regular toothpaste from the grocery store and would need to order the UnoFoam replacements from them directly (which, I would imagine, comes at a much steeper cost than traditional toothpaste).

One month, 60 times or so.

Replacements are going to cost about $3. The package I got come with 12.

You use regular toothpaste. You apply it to the UnoFoam.

In that case it makes a lot more sense to me. I read through the kickstarter page and it wasn't very clear when they described the UnoFoam whether it had toothpaste already as well as how disposable it was.

They could have done a better job of putting that info toward the top, yes. I read a few of the FAQ and some of the comments.

Very interesting idea. I've been wondering when something like this would come. There has to be better ways to brush the teeth than a normal brush. An electric is better, but still relies on manual operation, some doing a better job, some doing worse, some being too rough, some damaging the gums etc...

The saved time is nice, but the biggest thing for me is better teeth and mouth care, and removing a large part of the possibilities of human error. I haven't read through any comments, but I wonder how good it will work for all kinds of different people and teeth. I still got a full set of adult teeth and hope this can reach the back ones too properly.

I think the foam is pretty deep and will reach the back teeth. Absolutely worst case, and I don't think that'll happen at all, you could brush your back teeth manually.

But I'm 98% certain that won't be necessary.

My wife is a dental hygienist.    I just showed her the video.   Her response from the first video was "meh".   When I showed her the other videos her comment was "It would be cool if it worked but it needs to be sent to some dentists and hygienists for them to verify it works.     She is skeptical.    I guess that's what's great about new start up companies, they may have invented something truly amazing.   If this does work, it would be a drastic change in oral hygiene.

I just backed it as well. The package I wanted went from 5 available to 0 by the time I clicked on it. So I opted for the next one. Very interesting idea. I'm curious to see how it works myself.

My thinking was, I have spent 88.00 on much worse. If it works, Great! If not, it's not a big loss for taking a chance at better dental care.

It has been sent to dentists and hygienists. It's won awards.

I'm skeptical too. I don't accept things at face value, ever. But tooth care hasn't advanced in decades, and maybe this is what it'll be, the next step.

But yeah, look at their page (http://82aqn.fnd.to/unobrush) and read up on the Dentist recommendations and comments and endorsements.

BTW I just changed my pledge from the Early Bird Single (Connector, Base, Dock, 12x Foam) to the Super Early Bird Family which has 4x Connector, Base, Dock, 12x Foam).

It was 3 DKK cheaper, too. Somehow.

I like it.  Will probably wait until it's on the shelves.  The timeline shows by summer.

You'll pay up to 4x the cost. The thing I just backed is at 75% off their projected retail pricing.

That's always the "risk" in backing a project, but they've got working stuff right now, at least.

  • 5 months later...

Recent updates has brought environmental effects into the picture and they have changed production site or something. IIRC from the last update, they are looking into making the brush last longer, possibly with some cleaning operation/station, or maybe being able to create the brushes out of an environmental-friendly material.

    • Day 8: 12/17/2024 Okay I took my new PPJ swing thought to the range today. I wasn't sure I was quite ready to do so, but I'm glad I did.  When I got it right it was good... really good. When I got it wrong it was a major fail. I hit lots of really ugly ones. But I didn't let that deter me. I stayed committed and focused on the PPJ and I avoided any temptation to go back to what I was doing before just so that I could "look" better at the range. I'm pretty excited about what I saw when I got it right.  I hit the 6 iron mostly (nearly all block work today). I also hit about 6 balls each with the PW, 8I, 5W and Driver. Those had varying degrees of success. I did crack one drive that let me feel and see what the changes will look like once I get fully trained.  Anyway, I'm going to go back to the mirror work for a couple of more days before bringing it back to the range. I do feel like if I can get this right my swing will improve a lot. So I think its worth the effort. I liked the way it looked on GEARs when I get it right, and I like the results I got at the range when I got it right. Now the goal is to work towards getting it right more often.
    • So I think it's that they can't just bend the shaft or hosel to get it to a new lie angle. They adjust that and it changes the weighting, so they have to then adjust all the weights to get it balanced again. I get the impression that it's a bit of an iterative process and they do it all in the US, so they're paying US labor costs to build it and make it work how it's supposed to. Whether you believe in the tech or not, I think that's a true statement.
    • Ah, the old EE in the backswing move. Chest going back and staying down doesn't help.
    • Extremely outward path with a very closed club face. Maybe unless you have a stupidly weak grip, like right hand way over top, I don't think the grip is necessary highly correlated to this.
