  2. According to the pro at my course, Mizuno is delivering fairly quickly.
  3. I believe he was talking about the Charleston Muni. Patriots Point has some great views, good finishing holes, and is close to downtown. The Links at Stono Ferry, and Charleston National are both good courses.
  4. I have bought balls to give to friends, but never for myself. I do have a few that I have found, but I don't display them.
  5. At the club level, I've never seen anyone using an anchored putter of any kind become anything better than an average putter. It keeps these guys playing, and enjoying the game. At that level, I am totally in favor of arm lock putting. At the professional level, I'm not too sure.
  6. I have a Kangaroo remote, and at first, the remote was a bit of a distraction, but now, I really like it. I do use it in the manual mode around water, and on steep hills. That being said, I'd be fine with a non remote, also. I really think you'd be happy with which ever you choose.
  7. I've done it, and wished I hadn't. I'm a pretty good player, but not good enough to get really pissed.
  8. I don't think I'd rely on a company that makes only balls to fit me for clubs, so I don't think I'd rely on a company that makes only clubs to fit me for a ball.
  9. My course is a private club, around 6700 from the back tees. Tommy Gainey holds the course record with a 61. My old course was a semi private, 7000 from the backs, Tim Clark shot a 61 in a USGA qualifier. Clark was still in school at NC State. I don't know if either player had ever played either course before.
  10. Learning to accept bad shots.
  11. As long as they maintain pace of play,or let faster groups through, fivesomes don't bother me, but I don't like to play in them.
  12. Stricker just said that a player can be replaced, due to illness or injury, right up to the opening ceremony. So, I would bet, that with his injury, and COVID, there might be a few extra guys playing practice rounds up there.
  13. I wonder what clubs he'll be playing next year?
  14. Sorry, but no. I don't have the patience to listen to podcasts.
  15. I played Sedgefield this past spring, and the greens were very firm and smooth. They were probably the best greens I've ever played on. I don't know what speed they were, but they played very fast. If you were above the hole, it was very tough to putt it close. The greens had a lot of undulation, and some of the areas around the greens presented some very difficult chips. I know it's not a long course by today's standards, but the greens really made me appreciate how good the pros are.
  16. I hope he renewed his USGA membership at the highest level.
  17. Just so happy that the USGA can see what golf will be like 30 years in the future.
  18. I read that he is a 5 handicap. I would be surprised that would be good enough to make a D-1 team. A&T is joining the Big South Conference this year, and they have some pretty good players.
  19. Every time I have been fit, I've been fit outside, and I've been fit into stock shafts. The numbers have always been good, and I really like to see the ball in the air. Mabye I'm just fortunate that I fit in the range covered by stock shafts. My results have been acceptable to me. I think a more technical putter fitting might be worth it, but I don't think I'd go to CC for anything else, and, to be honest, I'd rather do a putter fitting on a real green.
  20. I think Bryson has brought a lot of the fan reaction on himself. That being said, golf is not like the other pro sports, and the fans should behave better.
  21. I joined a private club last September, and, so far, I have played with a great group. We play Tuesdays and Thursdays, and have four tee times. I have enjoyed playing with all the guys.
  22. A guy I know was fit for Ping irons at Club Champion, and had a shaft upgrade that was $60/ shaft for steel shafts. He was not given credit for the original shafts, and he wasn't given the original shafts.
  23. Thanks for this. We were considering Pinehurst as a retirement location. I'm a fairly fast player. This would drive me nuts! I'm very surprised the starters would allow this. Also, I thought the caddies might push them a bit. I guess they are afraid they might hurt their tip.
  24. I played Tot Hill Farm not long after they opened, and some of those greens almost required a chip shot depending on the hole location. I don't know if they have been softened since then, but they were the most ridiculous greens I've ever seen. I've played several Mike Strantz courses, and liked them, but I did not like this course.
  25. Just finished, and enjoyed it. He really points out the contrast between golf in Ireland and the UK vs. golf in the USA. He played quite a few golf courses that most folks have no chance of ever playing vs courses where most can play in his previous books.
