  1. This thread made me think of a small nit. Many people say foursome when they mean four-ball. Foursome may just mean four people together in normal parlance but in golf it has a specific meaning -- alternate shot format. Yet in the US I always hear people using "foursome" when they mean "four-ball".
  2. Simple solution for those of us who have been married for many years - Just roll over in the morning swat your wife on the butt and say "which is it this morning, sex or golf?" She will be making tee times for you in no time.
  3. Your opponent used to control your ball but that was changed years ago. You now have the right to mark and lift. Maybe he is an old timer who doesn't know Sorry - just saw this was already posted
  4. Ballyliffin is good but remote. I would suggest staying in Sligo (Yeats hotel is nice) there are many more options for golf. Enniscrone is one of the best kept links in Ireland. You are also in easy reach of Donegal.
  5. I have also seen the opposite. Laura Davies used to take a sand wedge to the tee and chop up a chuck of turf to tee her ball on rather than using a wooden tee.
  6. Can't call that lucky. Afterwards Brad Faxon pointed out that every player in the field could make the shot that Bubba made from the trees but less than a handful could have made that double eagle shot.
  7. 1:32 could be considered speed golf for a single. 3:32 is tortoise golf. I bet you are one of those guys who drives 55 miles per hour in the left lane of the highway and doesn't let others pass because you are "going the speed limit".
  8. For all those saying the course is too easy, they have decided to play four days this year. Let's wait and see what happens.
  9. In our big annual invitational, my club always cuts a players handicap by a couple of strokes if it their first time playing in an event at our club and they often call their home club to find out what kind of player they are. They also cut players who seem to have a history of excelling at net tournaments.
  10. Looked like Johnson didn't show up at the ceremony for his silver medal. Figures. Just as well.
  11. Hogan might not be as dominant today but few of today's pros would have a chance back then hitting persimmon, playing balatas and shaping one iron blades.
  12. I think Holly's interviews are excellent. You just need to try it with the sound off.
  13. My dream has always been to be able to play golf like Tiger Woods. And now I do...
  14. and it beats the heck out of the the back of hotel buildings and tacky mcmansions that border several of the holes at Pebble.
  15. Woody calls himself woody, but if you don't care for silly nicknames please refer to him as Eldrick.
  16. Just to be precise, those are divot holes. The divot is the piece of turf that has been removed. The issue often cited for not allowing relief from divot holes is that it would be difficult to determine when the hole had healed enough to no longer be considered a divot hole.
  17. It depends. If the pitch mark off the green was there when your ball came to rest you may not repair it prior to making your stroke. If the pitch mark occurred after your ball came to rest, you may repair it.
  18. I will take 55* over 80* any day of the week. Let's see, play best course in the world or a mediocre Texas track...
  19. It is my favorite course in the world. I have played Pine Valley, Augusta and many other top courses in the US, Ireland and Scotland but for me nothing compares to RCD.
  20. Perhaps that is why he ducked the big guys at Wentworth to play in an opposite field event in Texas. He has to try everything.
  21. In fact Justin didn't win that match or any other that week as I recall.
  22. That's St. Andrews not St. Georges and the courses in St. Andrews are not owned or controlled by the R&A.;
  23. Royal County Down Old Course St. Andrews North Berwick (west links)
  24. There is a replay of the interview available at Siriusxm PGA Tour. It was on Fairways of Life this morning.
  25. Tom O'Tool said in an interview this morning that they would not be ready by 2016 so he expects to do it between their regularly scheduled releases -- "probably around 2018". He spoke on Sirius radio golf.
