  1. Since fixing ball marks has already been discussed, I am going to go with not showing up at least 15-20 minutes before your tee time. This really irks me. I have some friends that think if we have a 10am tee time then they can show up 5 mins til and be fine. What this causes is me to have to sit there and listen to the starter ask where you are and if you are showing up, while we have a line of carts behind us. It's just a complete disregard for your playing partner(s). I don't really mind music on the course, so long as it is at a reasonable level that doesn't disturb other groups and everyone in your group is on board with it. I tend to play better when I have a little Bob Marley soothing me and creating good vibes when I get back to my car fuming after making a double bogey.
  2. Just a quick update, I received my blade collar polo a few weeks ago, and absolutely love it. I like it even more than I thought I would. It fits great, and the collar ads something subtly different. I'll be honest, if they weren't $80-$90 a pop I would buy 1 or 2 more. For now, just the one will have to do. If these don't sell as Nike hoped I might be able to score a few on sale in a few months.
  3. Not sure if any of you guys are keeping up with college golf, but the Men's regionals are underway. Today was day 2 of 3. The top 5 teams from each region will advance to the National Championship Tournament being held in Eugene, OR. You can keep up with the current scores from each regional on Golfstat.com. I'm watching the Stillwater regional closely since that is where Clemson is. Clemson currently sits in 4th place after a tough start yesterday, but they bounced back today and are in pretty good position heading into tomorrow.
  4. I was actually just in Charleston this weekend, at a wedding at the Country Club of Charleston. And wow, that is an incredible facility. We went out to Folly before the wedding. Just one thing to note, if you leave Folly during the day, and the weather is nice, just be aware that it will take you around 40 minutes worth of traffic to get back on during the middle of the day. Otherwise, you can just stay at Folly and enjoy yourself. As far as places on Folly that are cool, I really like the Lost Dog Café, Rita's, and Taco Boy. I also recommend having a few drinks at Loggerhead's. Beware of drinking on the beach, as it is outlawed, just FYI. It can be done, but be careful about it.
  5. I feel like there will be a 30 for 30 on Anthony Kim one day.
  6. Have you tried the UA fitted hats? They seem to fit a bit small. I wasn't a big UA fan, but recently bought one of their fitted hats and it is great. I usually wear a size 7 1/8 and their M/L fits my head perfect. I'd imagine if you can find a S/M it would be right up your alley. I'm usually an adjustable hat guy, though. For some reason I like the way they look on the course better. For the record, I am a hat fanatic. Zero exaggeration, I have at least 100 hats.
  7. Changing lofts on a club, for one...it is a good rule that is needed. He broke it, and took his lumps. On to the next one.
  8. Looking forward to this week. I have been going to the Wells Fargo Championship for every year except the very first year they had it. Quail Hollow is truly a great course and just a solid track with no real gimmicks. Next year it will be hosting the PGA Championship, and the Wells Fargo will be played in Wilmington. I'll be at Quail Hollow Friday and Sunday, hoping for a great tournament. My pick to win this week: Kevin Kisner.
  9. Looks like Wyatt and Chris Kirk are going LOW today.
  10. Guess better to join late than never, right?
  11. I enjoy watching this tournament and they always seem to have a solid field. A guy I've met a few times, Ben Martin, holds the course record here, so I follow it a little closer than most. Looks like play is suspended for weather at the moment.
  12. I am super jealous. We drove through Sedona back in January when I was in Phoenix for the College Football National Championship and it was absolutely amazing. I had never heard much about it over here on the East coast, but it is now at the top of my list of places I want to get back to. Truly incredible. Hopefully when I head back out there I can find some time to hit the links. Playing golf in a setting like that is a bucket-list worthy item.
  13. I came on here to recommend Stono Ferry as well. I've played a lot of golf around Charleston, but not Kiawah and not the private courses. Stono Ferry is my favorite course down that way. Charleston National is also pretty solid, and can be really tough if the wind is blowing, but sometimes is a bit over-priced. IMO, Patriot's Point isn't worth it. Wild Dunes is great, and rounds there are in the $100-range. Enjoy your trip, Charleston is a terrific city. Some posters above have pointed out some great places to check out. I HIGHLY recommend Poe's Tavern and the Sullivan's Island area in general for grabbing a beer, some good food, and hitting the beach. Folly is the more popular beach, but it gets packed to the gills. Then you have the world-class Beachwalker Park on Kiawah that anyone can go to.
  14. I'm thinking some of the more senior members of the club may have gotten their panties in a wad, and pushed for some action. Had the racing part not been on there and the video not been public I think it would have been a non-issue. He's a guy I really like on tour.
  15. Do you still have these by chance?
  16. That one is actually the "roll" collar, but looks very similar to the blade. The difference is the "roll collar" folds over, almost like a shawl collar, where as the blade does not. I placed an order for the $80 blade polo. We will see when I get it in how I like it. Hopefully it'll be pretty sweet, otherwise it goes right back to Nike. I had never heard of that site before, but just checked it out, and ut oh. You may have me hooked. I really like some of their styles.
  17. Good read. Keep grinding away.
  18. I live in Greenville, SC, but am in Charlotte/Rock Hill usually 2 weekends at least a month. I'd be in to meet up with some Charlotte folks to play one day.
  19. I would definitely wear a Clemson hat every day. Or possibly one with the logo of the company I work for just to give them a shout out.
  20. What does everyone think of the new "Blade" collar that Nike has come out with? It looks intriguing, to say the least. Rory has been wearing it for about a month now on some of his shirts. I'm thinking about ordering one and seeing how I like it. http://news.nike.com/news/new-nike-golf-polos
  21. I was thinking the same thing. At least 3 times I've seen a putt roll a foot past the hole, just missing right or left, and the announcer is screaming "Leaves that one JUST short!"
  22. D- 275 3W- about 3 feet off the ground 5W- 235 4I: 215 5I: 205 6I: 190 7I: 180 8I: 170 9I: 160 PW: 150 GW: 130 SW: 115
  23. Hey OP, random, but I am in Charlotte all the time (family lives in Rock Hill and the girlfriend lives in Charlotte). Let me know if you'd want to get together and play sometime. Usually when I'm up that way I try to play either Rocky River, Tega Cay, or Waterford.
  24. My PW is my 150-155 yard club. Though if there is any wind at all or trouble in front of the green I will usually go with a 9i.
  25. I've taken my girlfriend out twice now. She is pretty athletic, but has only played golf 4 or 5 times in her life. We only have done 9 holes so we keep the interest up, and I let her take plenty of mulligans if no one is behind us. Basically just trying to ease her into it while having fun. It doesn't hurt to have alcohol on board, either.
