Common. Path more rightward.

Well that's good to know, and makes me feel a bit better.

I literally shanked in a big circle around a short par 3, ended up chipping on from the backside of the green with my 4th shot! Lol. It was painful, but also hilarious! :-P Kinda wish I had been videoing that hole, I'd totally share it on here. :D

I guess that means just keep working on what I'm working on until I can do it without shanking, eh?

The odd slices and low, worm burner pulls that keep flaring up must be from me subconsciously altering my path way left in an effort to not shank or mega-push the ball. Makes total sense but sure is hard to fight against.

Can you elaborate?  I've seen you say this before but I'm not sure I understand.

Not to speak for Erik, and he'll correct me if I get this wrong, but it basically means that if you're hitting it right (shank, push, slice, whatever) your instinct will be to swing left. That's probably not the what you need to do and in the case of a slice, it's disastrous.

I think @Ernest Jones knows what he's working on (he's made a long drive to see us in Erie, and those are still his priority pieces until he can get them down), and I agree with @Phil McGleno that you can't just say "swing on the same plane back and down." He's already (in a way) trying to do that.

It's perfectly fine to comment on here and offer advice, just as it's equally fine for the OP to choose not to take it.  A lot of us are taking lessons and are using these threads more as a swing blog to help others, or to share ideas of whats working and whats not working with others who are going through the same issues, and not necessarily as pleas for help.

Recognize that and you are fine.

That's pretty much what I thought.  I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on some piece of advice that would magically fix my swing.  Thanks for the response, EJ.

So I stuck an alignment rod in the ground a few feet behind my ball angled roughly like my club shaft at address to try and get rid of the tip-out in transition. Like this, although looking a @iacas ' post (where this pic came from) I realize I was doing it a bit differently. I had the stick about 3-4 feet behind, so I'll try it roughly lined up with my right shoulder.

It worked so well I think I'll just practice like that for a while. The nice thing about it is, just having it there forces the change without having to consciously add anything to my process. I can just focus on my priority piece and make sure I don't crash into the stupid stick! Hopefully I'll discover some feels that I can use when the stick isn't there.

I'm not sure that this post was meant to discuss the stick you stuck in the ground.. I'm thinking it had more with giving yourself a reason to re-post the picture.  Just saying :)

Stack System’s marketing materials inflate apparent swing speed and distance gains through selective presentment of data without qualification that purported gains are not the result, in whole or part, of its training protocol and products. * Yes, I'm joking about abbreviating both "SS." SuperSpeed wants: A judgment that the Stack System has disseminated false and/or misleading information in violation of federal and Illinois law. The deletion of all false advertising distributed and recall of all packaging containing false advertising and a requirement that Stack System issue notices (written or otherwise) to that effect to all current distributors and retailers of its products and all distributors with whom Stack System has done business in the past eighteen months. Written confirmation within 30 days of an injunction detailing the manner and form in which Stack System has complied. An order that Stack System disseminate corrective advertising informing consumers, the trade, and the public of Stack System’s unlawful conduct. 3X all profits received by Stack System as a result of its unlawful actions. 3X all damages sustained by SuperSpeed (as a result of Stack System’s actions) The cost of the action All reasonable attorney fees All other relief to which SuperSpeed are entitled and such other or additional relief as just and proper. Oy.
    • I'm not doing this for the hundred and twentieth time. Sorry in advance, but you get the massively abridged version. Those guys also benefited from the weaker/shallower fields. Also, Watson's career doesn't overlap with Jack's like many think it did. Tom is nearly a decade younger. Jack won only like four majors only after Tom won his first. And Tom won more British Opens than he did all three of the other majors combined, as it was his specialty (not Jack's). Arnie's career similarly doesn't overlap Jack's as much as many think.   Jack would also tell you Tiger was the better golfer.
    • Weaker depth of fields for sure. Some of the top level guys with Jack were pretty awesome. Tom Watson had the lead on the 72nd hole of the 2009 British Open, an event where Tiger missed the cut. Old Tom was almost 60 years old. Jack himself at age 58 finished Top 10 at The 1998 Masters and scored better than Tiger, who won The Masters by 12 shots just a year before that.   The success of both Tom & Jack in older age gives some hope that maybe Tiger can find the magic again at some point. He’s still trying to figure out how to build the stamina for 72 holes after the leg injury. I would love to see him jump on the leaderboard in the coming years. I know a lot of people have given up on him at this point, but that was also true from 2014 to 2017 with the back injuries. He had a hell of a resurgence in 2018 & 2019. Would be fun to see it again.
    • Perceptive rules question by caddie unlocks Tour pro’s ‘dead zone’ relief A perceptive rules question by Xander Schauffele’s caddie, Austin Kaiser, unlocked “dead zone” relief during the Wells Fargo Championship.
    • I ran across an interesting new clip, Johnson Wagner went into that spot with the Referee who allowed the relief.  Apparently there was a perfectly reasonable shot to be made, as Johnson clearly demonstrated, so relief from the TIO was perfectly appropriate.
