Colbert (the T is silent) replaces Letterman

Congrats Colbert! I'm going to miss the Colbert Report. I hope CBS keeps as much of the Colbert Report format as possible. Please do not water Colbert down. Bland - no!

I think it's almost certainly a given that he'll drop the character for the CBS show. He's always been a pretty good interviewer, but a lot of that relied on the character being insane, and getting the guest to explain themselves better than they otherwise would have to. As someone who enjoys watching The Colbert Report and who probably won't follow him to the CBS show, I'm a bit disappointed. I am interested, however, to see who Comedy Central replaces him with, especially now that John Oliver is gone to HBO.

My thoughts exactly.

I will miss the Colbert Report.

I don't watch any of the 11:30 talk shows anymore but Fallon is killing Letterman in the ratings according to what I've read. When I read that I was kind of sad. I'm guessing it's not the honeymoon phase that's bumping Fallon over DL.

From what I've read, Fallon's ratings have held long past when most late night honeymoon phases tend to die down.

I know late night network talk shows are huge still but I just can't get excited for them with new hosts and even with Colbert gone in 8 months, I don't see myself going back. I really want to like Conan, but just not as funny anymore.

Yeah seems like it. I get that CBS wants to attract a younger demo but the thing that makes Stephen Colbert so good is that he's an insane character. What will the CBS Colbert be like?

Colbert will retire his signature character, a faux-conservative talking head, and will work on “The Colbert Report” for eight more months.
