Hey guys I'm somewhat of a club addict and for that reason I will probably purchase a few clubs over the winter (although I do not need them). One club I'm considering is getting a putter that will feel softer then my YES! I'm considering a rife, any suggestions?

The sound of oddesy putters is crap, I would try betranardi putters of scotty cameron putters they are great, I am also looking for a betranardi to add to my putter collection.

I think the old Scotty Cameron Studio Design 1.5 has a very buttery feel. They are not expensive on eBay. Alot depends on the grip, and the ball (as stated above).

The Cameron Pro Platinum's! Scotty has truely created something legendary. The softer the steel the harder it is for it to be milled. No wonder why they are expensive and dent--but if you want butter Scotty is the guy to see.

"People think the size of the head is most important. Wrong. It's getting a quality shaft. test different shafts to see which goes the straightest. Also, more degrees of loft on the head is better than less. Eleven degrees is about right."

The softest feeling putter I have ever putted with is the Scotty Cameron Futura putter, yes the funny looking one that almost look like an anchor with putter face on it, I want to buy one myself.

Just one suggestion: Mizuno Bettinardi Black Carbon BC1. Have it, love it. Brilliantly soft.

Why not go old school and get the bulls eye. Doesn't get much softer than that.

My swing thoughts:

- Negative thinking hurts more than negative swinging.
- I let my swing balance me.
- Full extension back and through to the target. - I swing under not around my body. - My club must not twist in my swing. - Keep a soft left knee

the ball does have alot to do with it too, i have a crappy walmart putter rite now, =[ which i need to get rid of haha, but even when i use prov1 balls it feels super soft

I have 2 Cameron's, Newport 2 Detour and Circa 62 #2 and I can tell the difference between the two putters. The Circa feels so much nicer and more pure. With that putter, I can tell when I'm striking putts well or not based on the amazing feel.

Some of the PING inserted putters seem as soft to me as any I've tried.

alot depends on the ball too. i love my odyssey black series #9 w/ pro v.

I totally agree > if you are hitting the Pro V > I would suggest the ping I series > like butter with any three piece ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. That is the softest club that I ever tried. It is what I use.

Rife is not buttery. Neither are the Yes! line.

The circa 62 no2 is the best putter ever!

In terms of Rife though, when I tried the thing it felt absolubtly like a rock!

      after some years experimenting around, I've settled on a mixed bag of mostly Pat Simmons vintage Tiger Sharks (the ones with the blue enamal on back of the clubheads): 3 thru 9 iron, + 3 wedges (PW, sand, chipper). Those super heavy clubheads really help me get my swing down and thru the ball. Also I carry an old Taylor 18-degree rescue club, 17-degree and 14 degree ImagineGolf metalwoods, and the famous Pat Simmons "alien" 1-iron. Finally a real brick-on-a-stick, the big-headed Bettinardi Ben Hogan model putter which is excellent for taking the break out of short putts and getting the ball hole high on long ones. Wait....is that 15 clubs? Oh well....

      this topic brought to mind one my favorite golf-spectator memories. Back when, living in Santa Barbara CA, parked in my yellow cab just behind the 10th tee  (c. 380 yard par 4) at SB Muni golf course while eating lunch. A twosome comes by, and first up is this fat little mexican guy who takes a kinda squirelly practice swing, then addresses the ball and bashes a long, high, perfectly straight drive up to w/in about 5 yards of the green. Other guy is dressed to the 9's, pulls out what looks like a $300 driver....and hits a maybe 150-yard pop fly. Slams clubhead to the ground and yells, "it's fat! It's fat! Everything is fat today!!"  And that's how I learned what a "fat" shot is.

      It may not be surprising that in the previous 7,064 posts, this particular point has been discussed. To which I will counter: If we're talking about results, why only the majors? Unless you know something that I don't, neither of us are in any position to judge whether Woods or Nicklaus lived their overall life better, not that such a thing is even objectively measurable, nor is it relevant to the discussion.
