What is your thoughts? I have really never found a 3 wood that I truly love and have confidence in. I do however really like my Adam's hybrids. I can get my hands on a new 16 degree. I currently can hot my 18 degree one about 240 yards off the tee. So thinking I could hit the 16 degree probably in the 250 - 255 range.

I am not much for going for par 5's if I am past 230 yards (18 degree hybrid) as I am a good wedge player. I really do not see why I should not do this but want to make sure I am thinking this through properly.

Alternates for that spot include a low-lofted hybrid (the Adams Idea Pro Black has a 16° model, for example) -- if you're looking to put something between your driver and your 18° hybrid. I'm not sure the virtues of having three clubs a total of four degrees apart, but you're a far better player than I am.

You might also seek a 4-wood in a similar loft; Mizuno's F-50 4-wood, for example, is 16.5° and will probably play a little longer than the Pro Black 16°.

The 16* Adams is more like a 1 Hybrid, I like it myself too, for me it is slightly longer than my 18* TF-iZ 5 wood with a lower ball flight.

But I only use it from a tee, from the fairway or rough I prefer the 5 (or actually 4) Wood.

I tried this once.

I replaced my 3 wood with a 15 degree hybrid, but I hit it shorter and less accurately (and that is a baaaaad combination). So I relegated it to the club museum (i.e. the basement).

A Golf Digest study reported that the 4W is easier for lots of people to hit than a 3W.

Nothing wrong about that, they don't sell 13 degree and 15 degree hybrids for nothing. Never considered it though to be honest.

I carry a 2h. It is fantastic off the tee and I am hitting it better and better each week from the fairway.

The Carry distance on my 16* Nike CPR hybrid and 15* R5 wood is about the same. A couple a yards more roll out with the 3 wood. So they are about equal for me. Depends on my mood and course and conditions as to what is in the bag.

My 16* Cobra Baffler DWS hybrid carries within about 5 yards of my Titleist 3 wood, and it is a little easier to hit and probably slightly more accurate-when I'm not hooking/overdrawing it. Which I have been lately.

I have my three wood, and 2i. I really never use my three wood, except off the tee. I like it better on the tee then my 2i. But anything on the fairway I would much rather use my 2i.

I took a 16* hybrid and put a 110gm Matrix hybrid shaft in it... I made the length about an inch longer than it played before but still shorter than my 3 wood. End result was equal distance of my 3wood with better accuracy.

I did this recently because I was having loads of trouble hitting the 3 wood consistently. It's worked great so far...lost just a little yardage that I could get on a well-struck 3, but that only happened about once every 5 shots.

Thanks everyone. I am going to give it a shot and see how it works out. I have heard a lot about the Cobra Baffler that has been mentioned here as well. Going to hit that some and see what I think before I just go ahead with the Adams.
