Hey everyone,

currently this is my setup:

10.5° Cobra AMP Cell Driver
4-16.5° Cobra AMP Fairway Wood
4H-22° TaylorMade RBZ Stage 2 Rescue Hybrid
5 - PW Nike VR_S Covert Irons
50° & 56° Cleveland 588 RTX CB Wedge
60° Cleveland 588 RTX CB Wedge
Model 7 Odyssey White Hot XG 2.0 Putter

13 clubs... I feel I've plenty of them to work around the greens, but I feel I'm lacking distance. I firstly thought about adding the 4 iron (I don't think it collides with the 4H hybrid) but then I thought about getting a 3H hybrid (I fell in love with Titleist's 913H hybrid because it can be assembled with an Aldila RIP Phenom shaft which I like a lot). I know they are different clubs but hear the rest ;)

I also think a Cobra AMP Cell Fairway Wood 5-7 could fit...

Summarizing it all we've got:

4 iron (mostly because I already own it so I shouldn't spend extra money to get it);

3H (19 degrees) Titleist 913H Hybrid (because of its shaft and extra yardage than the iron);

5 - 7 (17 - 20 degrees) Cobra AMP Cell Fairway Wood.

Thanks all! :D

I have the Titleist 910 in 21 and 27 degree.  Love them.  Easy to hit, and land  easy.  I feel the 910h is better than the 913 due to it's ease to use.

I'd go with a hybrid, either a 3 or 5. Either way you close the distance gap between clubs. If you can hit your 4 iron well, even better since that's like $150 you don't have to spend.

Id get a Cobra amp cell 5-7 Wood. It has adjustable loft so you have from a 5 to 7 wood in one club. I have a Bio Cell Driver and love Cobra products but that is just Bias

The only gap I see in your bag is between 4-wood and driver and that is marginal at best.  Adding a 4-iron would be silly considering you already have a 4-rescue.  These are interchangeable clubs.   Adding a 3-rescue is nearly interchangeable with a 4-wood so I don't like that change either.

I believe your bag would be more complete if you ditch the 4-wood and add a 3 & 5 wood to replace it.

What's in Paul's Bag:
- Callaway Big Bertha Alpha Driver
- Big Bertha Alpha 815 3-wood
- Callaway Razr Fit 5-wood
- Callaway Big Bertha 4-5 Rescue Clubs
-- Mizuno Mx-25 six iron-gap wedge
- Mizuno Mp-T4 56degree SW
- Mizuno Mp-T11 60degree SW
- Putter- Ping Cadence Ketsch

Or a 3-wood and 3-hybrid. Either way.

I think sometimes by wanting an extra club at the long end of the bag it can end up changing the whole top end set up completely! But hey! Trying and buying new clubs is all part of the fun! Costly, expensive fun!!

My bag is pretty much same as yours (I just play a 4i vs your 4h). I would be lost without my 3 hybrid - depending on your gapping, I'd probably start my quest there. If you really want your mind blown... I would try a good 3 wood, 3 hybrid and 4 iron on the low end (to me, having one hybrid as a go to club is enough).

I have been playing 4W + 7W for three seasons now, and is more reliable than the old 3W + 5W.

I also carry an Adams 4H. When I play my older X20 Tour irons, the 4H goes farther than the 4i; when I play the TM SLDRs, the 4i and the Adams 4H go about the same distance.

Focus, connect and follow through!

Seems like if there is a gap or duplication of similar clubs it's between driver and 4w and 4h and 5i. The VRS 5i is 24 degrees at 38.75 so pretty much a 4i. If it was me and I hit my 5i consistently I'd look to redo everything between the driver and 5i or rethink the wedges at 48-52-56-60. His pw is basically a 9i at 44 degrees.

Thanks all for your important imputs!

In the end I bought a 3H (Titleist's 913H). I'll prolly remove the 4i and 4w going for a more classic 3w-5w setup, but this will happen in the future as I don't have any haste to do that anytime soon.

If you're using it off the deck, I think the 16.5 4 wood serves your long wood purpose. You'd have to hit a 3 wd on the screws all the time to gain a difference

The 22h is like a 7 wd but may not go as high and is more like a 3i

You seem to know your bag, and it's the 4i slot to where you're looking -- I'd find a 25 hybrid to fill the slot (or something that can be adjusted to fill the slot)

It depends on where you want your distance -- long term you may want to look at a 3wd, 5wd setup if you're looking at off the deck longer distance. Plenty of used clubs, or on sale clubs out there at golf stores where you can talk people down. They certainly are giving customers anything at trade-in.

I also am bagging 13 clubs. I'm wondering if it's a good idea to go to 3 wedges. Given that my approach iron has a loft of 49, I'm thinking of adding 52, 56, and 60 degree wedges.

    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.

    • Day 96 (18 Mar 24) - Continued work with the Divot Board with the GW and hard foam balls.  Focused on small target/small miss…setup to hit target about 30yds out - success if it hit within 6’ circle of target, fail if outside.  Had decent success averaging about 3 out of 4 (hitting in groups of four).
