Out of the stuff I'm willing to admit to packing ...

Okay...I gotta know--what kinda things do you take to a golf course that you won't admit to? 🤨  We talkin' just sneaking a few beers in the bag?  A lil somethin' (err, "non-tobacco") to smoke?  Cat-o-9 whip for a cart girl you discovered has a naughty side?  :-P

...

I used to have a little baggie with band-aids, some ibuprofen, and a lens cloth for my glasses.  But I'm able to wear contacts to play again...and generally working on being less-weird (unsuccessfully...merely a different-weird now), so I've ditched it all.  I read an article once on how to be a good golf partner--it said to carry a flask of whiskey to share.  I did that once, and whipped it out after we all doubled+ a hole (to laughs...but, oh yes, all partook).  But these days I'm pretty minimalist/boring...even keep the ball and tee count down to cut weight. and so I don't stab my hand with 20+ broken tees when I'm digging for my pitch-mark tool.

Ya know, if I had stuff I didn't want my wife to find, my golf bag would be the place.  That's the one place I don't think she's ever touched.  Through the years...new drivers, new putters...all in plain sight, and unless someday I wrap it in flashing LEDs, I think she'll continue the trend of being 100% oblivious to its existence.

Sorry about being coy, but I really can't say.

Suffice to say it isn't weed.  It also isn't beer because beer is cheap (maybe too cheap) at my home courses.

Also, the cart girls at Kittyhawk are too tough for me to mess with. I make sure I say please and thank you.

Man of mystery.  I'll respect that.  But if the fates ever put us in a round together, consider granting a tiny peek.  I'll swear to secrecy.  Even if it's a severed head of someone who once yelled GO BRUINS in your backswing.

Down here in FL, a nice big fluffy towel. Maybe an extra in the bag.

This is the face towel, never to be confused with the nasty club towel hanging on the bag.  Though I've had to resort to it.

Everything that's a "must have" is already attached to or in my golf bag.

Other things I usually carry include my GameGolf, a thermos for water or tea (depends on the temperature), and my Garmin. I can play golf just fine if I forget any of those things so they're not "must have" in my book.

Water bottle filled with water in the winter, and ice and water in the summer.  Also some sort of sweet to boost my carbs when I start to feel low.

For me, the only must have is water.  I got a nice Yeti thermos last year and it fits right in pocket on my bag.  Speaking of cleaning out the bag; last week I found a full bottle of IPA under my rain jacket.  It’s been in there since my golf trip last July.  Oh, the other thing I always take is my Swiss Army golf tool.  It has everything from a ball repair tool to a bottle opener.  All essential on the course.

    • I get kidney stones. So 100 oz of water every day. Some nights I drink 32oz between midnight and 6 Am. Which means I dont sleep much.
    • 46 (9 over) Short game and putts were awful!
    • 46+40 for an 86. I just need to play 9 holes on the range before each round. 🤣🤣🤣
    • I don’t measure my intake either. I generally have a black coffee, a bottle of soda, some sweet tea at home, and anything in between is water. An ice cold bottle of water is one of my favorite things. It feels like an immediate refresher for my body. I’ll admit that I need to drink a little more though.
    • For such a nice membership, there have been some bad incidents in the past few years.  We had someone voted out a couple of years ago over something he did and he harassed the board members for three months until he moved out of the area.   Generally they’ve tried to do things like tournament handicaps and identify certain people who they know should be lower and adjust it somehow.  I can understand not wanting to go thru something like the guy who was voted out again i emailed the pro who forwarded it to the handicap committee.  They are going to see what can be done.  I walked someone thru what happened and they are going to nudge him to post the score from the match and see what he does.  Since he didn’t put anything in the electronic scoring past 13, based on how he played 14 and 15 plus having to take bogey on 16-18 for after he left, he should post 83.  We’ll see if it’s even higher,   Since he was really even thru 13, then doubled 14 and parred 15 my guess is he really shot 75 being generous and giving him 2 pars and a bogey on the three holes he didn’t play.    i shot 88, getting 16 shots for my course handicap which is net even and I lost on 13.  We do brackets where handicaps should be within 4-5 of each other.  Most matches only have 1-2 shots as a difference between players  neither of us posted the score yet.  There was something in the match play rules about whether or not to post your score.  I couldn’t remember if we were supposed to or not.  I don’t think he was going to post that, because even with his inflated score it would be the lowest score in his recent 20. Lucky I didn’t because they want to see what he does post and they don’t want me posting so he can try to calibrate his score.
