That's March 1, a time when the spread was well underway in Palm Beach, an area that became a hotspot, and has since re-emerged as a hotspot.

If they had known then what we know now, that scene might have looked at lot different, if at all.

"The Honda Classic was fortunate to have its event, which drew crowds of more than 206,000, end March 1, before the coronavirus became an issue."

Really?  206,000 people in an area that already had had numerous COVID cases for 2 months.

My League starts this Friday.  We typically play a closest to the pin on one of the par 3s.  Anybody have any experience with this since the outbreak?  Since the marker has to be moved by multiple players we have thought about scrapping it all together or clipping hand sanitizer to the marker so anyone who moves it can use it.  Not sure of any other real options.  Any ideas?

Whether it contributed to the pandemic or not, I am going with what I witnessed and what has been determined to be true.

During the very-busy Snowbird Season, and when a pandemic was well underway, it was business as usual at Florida golf courses, with no precautions being taken.

Y'all have a nice day, and get at least one birdie.

What's that got to do with "country clubs"? Stop shifting the goalposts.

And what other major sports in the U.S. were stopped as of March 1? Heck, what indoor sports were stopped as of March 1?

Sorry to disrupt your repeated attempts to make golf look bad.

False.

BTW, Whispering Woods might be the only course to have done three things with the holes.

  1. Raised cups. Mostly in March before courses were closed in PA.
  2. Inverted hole liners. May 1 until yesterday.
  3. Pool noodles (starting today).

I like the last one the best.

Pool noodles are not too bad. I miss the sound of the ball rattling to the bottom of the cup (reference last blog post), but if this is what it takes to play, so be it.

I have been playing 18-holes every day since my club officially reopened on May 5. We used to have 7-minute tee times which the club extended to 10-min at reopening. But starting this weekend, it was increased to 15 mins. There weren’t enough tee times to accommodate all the members and this weekend was a mess. 25 groups did not get to play on Saturday and 32 groups did not get a tee time on Sunday.  Yet the club still allowed singles/doubles to take one slot by themselves and as usual, some groups did not show up and did not cancel either.  And we still have non-members sneaking on to play since the course was practically empty with that much time between each group. I had to run off 4 groups of people for sneaking on. I don’t get why so many people think it is ok to walk on a private course that they don’t belong to!

Because they haven't been caught or trespassed yet.

Concerning COVID, unquestionably there is a difference of opinion between those who have been affected, who have the virus themselves or someone close to them does, because they did not take precautions themselves, or are around people who did not take precautions, or are health care or frontline workers, and those who have not gotten the virus.

I'm not even sure what you are trying to say here. That is a tremendously long sentence. I'm lost.

Not necessarily.

Also you don’t know if I’ve been affected. My sister is an RN and works with nursing homes frequently.

My mother is a former teacher. My wife a current teacher.

Cartboy, Claim your Achievements... longest sentence of the year! I must say, excellent and proper use of commas.

Yes, generally speaking.

That was at the SW FL course I had just played the week before, when it was business as usual, no noodles and no precautions.

I see that more often than not.  Most golfers who are friends do NOT seem to practice any social distancing.
