Weird Golf Phenomenon

So, I have played golf for my entire life but currently have not played seriously in a year or so. Recently, I have been thinking about my golf history and I noticed a weird phenomenon that has happened to me occasionally. When I would play in tournaments, there were times when one part of my game is exceptionally good but is cancelled out by another part of my game being equally bad. So overall, I would shoot a good score, but in kind of a strange way. For example, in a high school tournament a few years ago, my approach shots were amazing but I missed nearly every birdie putt even a few less than 3 feet. I ended up shooting a 72 with 16 pars, a birdie, and a bogey but I was baffled because putting is normally one of my strengths. These weird rounds would normally switch between great putting/short game and terrible driver/iron shots and vice versa. Has anyone experienced anything like this or am I just weird?

Yep, I have games where parts of my game are not on the same page as some of the other parts of my games. Quite often as a matter of fact.

When I play a more complete, more consistent game, is usually when I break 80. 

I suspect that's why it was originally called golf.

Yes. At times, my putting has been terrible and my iron play has been superb, and vice versa. I had one day where everything except my putting was bad. Like, really bad. It turned what would’ve been a 47 or 48 (just a mediocre round for me) into a 55.

Yes, many times and they all go missing simultaneously more times than I care to admit too.

All that means is that you are like most people! Even golf pros. Rarely does anyone have it all going at any one time!
