There are a lot of good element of your swing. Work on the COVID drills Day 1 to 5. It takes a bit of work, but you can fix the takeaway piece Erik mentioned. You can use a mirror or even your own shadow. Do the drills and film them. Post them here.

Thanks!

I'll do that. I watched Day one video and I think I understand what should I do with my wrists during the backswing.

Maybe this is going to make my ball flight lower, we'll see 🙂

I'll check other Day drills too!

Unfortunately, I am going to play a tournament on Saturday, so that's going to be tough 😄

Post videos of you doing the drills in this thread. It will help.

Hello guys,

thanks for your help -- today I played my second tournament and my new handicap index is 22.7 - (improved from 28.6)

I scored 1 birdie, 2 pars, lot of bogeys, some double bogeys & did not score on 2 holes.

I really tried to change the takeaway and focus on my wrists not going too much inside! Thanks Iacas!

I'll record me doing the drills.

Hello iacas,

I tried to work on the takeaway - based on your video.

It feels a bit weird to me, but maybe it's better.

I was at a driving range after a week and hit a some hooks - don't know why 😕

Never happened before.

Here is the video of one of the better shots... I can't record it from the better angle and distance, because there is a cubicle on the range and it's really small 😕

I'd worry A LOT more about the shaft and where it's going.

Have you seen some of the drills from my April 30-day COVID-19 thing?

(edited)

It looks to me that the swing is very steep and not inside-out enough...

Maybe it's steep because the transition/weight/force transfer is late? 😮

You are not too steep at A6.

I would recommend continuing with the Covid drills day 1 to 5. Your swings are looking better. It takes a while to make changes.

Hello!

thanks for your response! I am working on drills right now 😄 Covid style!

I tried some of the drills today and I think I have the biggest problem with the shoulder tilt drill (I think that's Day 2).

So maybe because of that, the swing feels flat...

I was focused a lot on the takeaway yesterday, so I think my weight/force transfer/transition wasn't good - maybe because of that I hit a lot of shots fat & hooks. Don't know 🙂

Hello guys!

I'll send video of myself doing drills 1-5.

Just need to edit it.

Btw, one guy on the range showed me this video & approach --

What do you think about it?

The best players in the world don’t have their weight and pressure forward throughout the entirety of the swing. There is a small shift laterally backwards often only an inch or two plus a pressure spike on the trail foot. I’d say it’s easiest for a newer golfer to just worry about making a centered pivot and not necessarily focus on what this guy is suggesting.

Regardless, getting weight forward is crucial, but I don’t think the majority of it has to start and stay there.

@swingman123123, two things:

  • Please add an avatar. I've asked twice, so please add one.
  • Post outside of your own swing topic, please. I mean, you don't have to, but people are going to stop responding and trying to help you. The Rules at the top of the Member Swing forum say: "As a general note, people are more willing to give advice and help to people they know, so please, try to participate in other sections of the site. Get to know people and let them get to know you a little bit. You'll get more feedback and advice in your "My Swing" thread and make some online buddies in the process."

The first is required. The second is only strongly recommended.

Hello!

it's been a while - covid-19 situation is still pretty bad in my country, it's basically a continuous lockdown, so no golf was allowed 😕 Now, driving ranges are finally open.

So I recorded my swing (iron + driver). Unfortunately, the angle of video isn't very good. Ball flights and impacts are better than last years. I was hitting a lot of push slices last year and it looks that problem is solved - I hit 100 balls today and maybe just 2 of them were slices.

I think there's some problem with early lift of the trail heel, but I don't know tbh - I am not an expert..

During last weeks, I studied some theory a lot, but it's practice is different 🙂

If you have any advice, I'll really appreciate it.

Stay safe & healthy during the covid-era! 🙏

Hello golfers,

I am going to driving range everyday and hit 100 balls & working hard to improve my game.

Played a round of 9 holes and hit 42 shots.

One of my friends borrowed me his swing caddie SC300, so I recorded my driver, 7-iron & sand wedge swings.

Numbers are attached - Driver distance is in yds and other clubs are in meters (we probably accidentally changed that).

The question is - I am using a Taylormade M6 driver - with a regular flex shaft Fujikura Atmos Orange 5.

I read that regular flex shaft isn't good for higher swing speeds and it looks I am in that territory.

Would you recommend me changing for stiff or x-stiff? Or is the regular shaft okay for training on my beginner level?

Thanks!

Your driver swing speed is all over the place. Doesn't seem that reliable. And your spin rate is astronomical for a driver.

I think you are right - noticed that too - could the high spin rate be caused by the shaft?

Or the SC300 isn't particularly accurate.

Yeah, I don't know how accurate is it tbh...

But most of spin rates are similar, so maybe it's accurate & I am doing something wrong...

I second this. The smash factor is pretty consistent but the swing speed is all over the place. It’s probably the other way around.
