Walmart junk (Goliath something something) -

Wal-Mart "junk" has helped many people get into the sport.

They also happen to be the largest corporate sponser of The First Tee As you pointed out, they sell (a limited selection of) Adams golf equipment, and their selection of Callaway golf equipment is growing every season. They sell entry level equipment for sure, but I'm not sure "junk" is the appropriate word.

On my tombstone: "If this is the worst thing that ever happens to me, I'm doing just fine!"

I did not intend to imply that all of the equipment available at Wal-mart is "junk". Just that the 3-wood that i happen to have is "junk" (and quite beat up...along with the Adams clubs) and that was stated mostly out of frustration....nothing to do with their functionality.

I went through a major case of the "I can't hit this thing anymore... " last season with the 3W after going through 3 years of it being the best club in my bag. Went to the local golf dome recently to work with it (still can't play here ) and it felt great!!! Back to happy with it (for now ). I probably won't replace it for quite some time.... Equipment from Wal-mart has made it possible for me to enjoy and learn the game as well as making it possible for me to get my brother and some buddies into the game......and I still make a stop at the golf equipment to check it out on every trip to Wal-mart. Was not intended to be a knock....I just copied the data from my signature.....I guess I should have edited that part (and my sig).

ogio vision ss- $150
titleist 983k- $30 used at PGA
titleist 755 irons- $350 playability at PGA
cleveland CG10- $90

$780 total but still lacking a few clubs

585.h 19* 755 3-PW Vokey Oil Can Spin Milled 54.10 Newport 2 35" NXT Tour

It's been 10+ years since I bought new irons or woods.
Those items were about $300 for tour precision irons and $50 for a Big Bertha 3 wood (only wood).
My BullsEye Putter is twice as old as that I don't even re-call how much I paid for it.

My recent purchases were also as much as above:
Sun Mtn Bag ~$120
Etonic shoes ~$90
Mizuno Wedge ~50

Cheers,
Eric

what's in my Sun Mtn bag:

LOL. That's cool. I thought maybe you were (especially after seeing your sig but I didn't know if you had changed it or what....). You had a few a valid points none the less and I felt it appropriate to change my data.

    • Rule 1.2b refers you to a section in the Committee Procedures (Section 5I) that helps explain what a Code of Conduct may (and may not) do.  Defining acceptable behavior (including smoking) and applying Stroke of DQ penalties are certainly within the Committee's authority. That Code of Conduct certainly should be available, either in written form or in a webpage accessible to all.  It may not show up on the "standard local rules" for an organization, the "hard card", as it sounds like its a policy of this particular golf course. Assuming that's the case it should show up on the Notice to Players for this particular event.  If you can't find it, ask someone, send an email, try to find out.   In summary, yes the Committee can DQ (or withdraw) a Player for smoking, even before or between rounds.  But its up to you to go from there, communication is the key here.

    • Hmm... I not sure I completely understand. If the course has a no smoking policy, then he shouldn't smoke at the course.  I'm assuming since you are aware of the policy, it must be written down somewhere.  As far as getting disqualified from the tournament, I would think that would be up to the committee. But it feels like it is within their power to disqualify, so why take the chance?
