This drill/feel is used a lot, see it on instructor feeds everywhere. A more extreme version of it is on George Gankas' social media.

The hands are going out rehearsal, but full swing they drop behind. Good players know this instinctively. When I do it, on the full swing, I actually do the same movement and it's over the top, out to in. Why is that?

Why not when this drill is done, turn from the top while the hands are dropping behind?

Not sure what you’re asking. Feels work differently for different people.

She looks like she’s rehearsing and doing two different things.

Because it’s a feel.

She practicing carrying a pizza tray..😋.

JK.. yes I am certain she is not mapping, it's a feel. Hands move forward but you 'leave' the club behind. Players who have palmy right hand grip struggle with this a lot.

IMO its designed for producing a certain feel. I am definitely not an instructor so my comments are just based off my experiences and  interpretation.

IMO the instructors that use this "getting the club in front" is like what some instructors I have seen on Youtube say that they want the student to feel like the club is standing up, "tipping over" (Malaska term/Youtube videos). IF I try to do consciously stand club up/get club our in front and/or do what I think "tip" the club means, I come over the top.

This not a swing thought I like or practice because I just don't feel what I think I should and/or I see exaggerated over the top movement in my videos. Therefore I focus more on using my weight shift feeling into lead knee for my transition to get my downswing started properly. So when I video  my swing where I consciously practice "feeling" my lead knee move toward my lead big toe, my hands drop naturally in the backswing. So I did not have to feel my hands drop they just do it as a byproduct of the sequence/lead knee move. At least that is what I feel.....

Yea, I know. It was mostly a comment about how a drill or a feel doesn't directly match what one does in the swing. I spent all of two seconds typing it out between jobs this morning so obviously I failed to articulate anything significant.

Because you're not coming from the same place she is in your swing?

I don't know the history of the player, but I'd guess she dropped her hands down and behind her too much and needed to get them going out more.

It looks like on her actual swing her right shoulder goes down then turns. Maybe you’re turning but your right shoulder is turning too level without any downward motion? That would bring the club OTT.

I’ll post videos on my swing thread where I made a swing with the drill  above and one where I think drill plus arms behind me.

Its basically an over the top popup  pull on the first and a normal looking swing on the second one.

The gist of my post was that I had no instincts, lol. Should have made that clearer.
