So I either buy nbc for a month or visit my mother in law for the next two Sunday mornings. This is shaping up to be pretty interesting so I hope to see more than golf channel on my iPad. Thanks for posting the broadcast schedule.

Can you get NBC via an antenna? The over the air picture is actually sharper than some set top boxes because they compress.

I have Peacock on my Apple TV but have not given them my credit card. Not sure if I will pay for the access to the USO. May do it just to see what it’s like.

I just installed Peacock, but I also have YouTube TV so I'll be able to watch.

My club championship is Sept 17-19, and I plan to spend Sunday the 20th watching the Open.  Most years, our club championship is in August and overlaps the last three days of the PGA Championship.

OTA is still compressed. But often less so, yeah.

I haven't gotten it yet. Is the USO paid, or is it free as they're trying to get more people onboarded?

Score! Mahalo for the ideas so I went poking around apps, and found nbc’s. Now I’m smoking brisket and watching golf.

Aloha

I’m not sure. I would imagine you have to pay for the premium account to get the USO. But according to Deadline, it’s free. I assume the piece means the golf USO not the tennis USO, doesn’t ESPN carry the tennis major?

Peacock, the NBCUniversal streaming service that launched in April in Comcast homes, started...

I would assume the U.S. Open would be free, and if that's what you're reading, I will doubly assume that. 🙂

Yeah makes sense, the action they’re showing is way way before prime time contenders. Plus the getting eyeballs. Guess similar to the free coverage on Amazon Prime. Of all the streaming apps Peacock is the one I like least.

I should ask Google but I'll ask TST instead.  Is this the first major at Winged Foot since the Open was here in 2006?  For the life of me, I can't think of when there has been one since, but it seems off that it'd be fourteen years between appearances for this course.

Some of these courses don't want to give their course up for months every seven to nine years.

Oakmont was nine years apart. 2007 and 2016, so 14 isn't all that odd, IMO.

Maybe it was Oakmont four years ago that I was thinking of when I felt Winged Foot had been more recent.

Thanks!

Oh yeah, US Opens back to back this year. Golf and tennis. Still weird even though the schedule change has been out there for awhile.

Has any of you guys played Winged Foot?  It’s not a course I have much recollection of watching. I’m assuming for the Open(US😉) it will be a fairly tight setup and par is not a bad score?

    • I hope this change breathes new life into GG.  I enjoyed using it for several years.  I switched over to Arccos a couple of years ago due to problems with GG and don't anticipate switching back (although my GG live unit and sensors are still in the closet).  But it's good to have competing companies offering similar products/services--I suspect it may help keep both companies on their toes for technical capability, pricing, reporting formats, etc.
    • You and your passport will vaporize.  Because of the chip that was installed.
    • I had two players make the cut, Cink and Bradley! I’m expecting to rack up major points!😜
    • I 100%......... Disagree.  If you look at Arnold, Jack, Miller... they hit the ball HARD!!!  Golf is about risk assessment. On a hole where I know it's not in my shot shape, I will not go at it. If there is hole that is open and gives me a lot of room, I can let loose. I was never taught to just go all out.  Now, I think there is benefit to allowing someone growing up to turn a lot and swing harder since it develops speed. Then later on, getting them to control it. I rather have speed than not to have it at all.  In terms of what you are saying, that is game planning.  Again, 100%.... Disagree.  You can get a lob shot to end up inside 30-Ft way more often than hitting a 5-iron to inside 30-Ft. Also, being aggressive, doesn't mean lob shot is your next shot all the time. I can be aggressive, hit a 3-wood into a par 5 green and know the ball is not going to be short sided.  I agree that game improvement irons make it difficult to hit the ball lower. I swing too hard to even what to consider game improvement irons. For those who don't have the swing speed, they struggle to get the ball high enough. So, this maybe for you, it doesn't speak for those who would benefit from game improvement irons the most.  It's hard to do when you swing out of control with muscle back irons. Its also hard to do when your a 30 handicap golfer in general. I rather that golfer get some distance, and proper yardage gaps on their irons than add more struggle to their golf game by playing muscle back irons. In the end, it's the golfers swing not he club that matters the most.  It is pretty beneficial to know what your yardages are. Golf monitors are very beneficial. Especially when you can't get outside for 3-4 months out of the year.
