You should try being me. Long, red hair. Full beard. Earring. Tattoos (only visible with shorts). and I weigh over 350lbs. I get looks you wouldn't believe. But I've never been paired with someone who I didn't win over by the 2nd or 3rd hole. Folks make assumptions based on looks all the time, it's human nature. It's your job to keep your demeanor such that they don't have any reason to verify their first impression.

In golf it seems like i dont fit in like all the people that play are like rich and snooty. I meen I have money.

If you're a 36 handicap, then most likely they are....just kiddin'

You'll get along fine with r425....he hates rich people who buy the game. At the end of the day, everyone who is good at golf was bad at it at one time, for a long period of time.....you probably dont fit in because you seem to be a genuine person. grain of salt my man!

I'm a big (260 lbs) heavily tattood veteran Marine. I don't fit in on the golf course. However, no one has ever given me grief and I play with some nice guys. I hate to say it, but like your mother said - if they treat you like that then they aren't your friends. The same applies now. During the day I'm in a shirt and tie (well, ties only when I'm in court) and it's surprising to people when I show up in short sleeves. As long as you're having fun, screw them...

Of note, most people don't come and complain to a big tattood guy...lol

Whatever Dude...waiting for the tools to start wearing bluetooths while playing...it's coming.

OK, I am not a snob by any means and I don't have a lot of money, but I see a lot of people wearing jeans at the local muni's and I just think it's not appropriate for the golf course. Does that make me an a-hole?

no. jeans on a course arent ok, and i'm 15. at our information meeting our coach said it was ok to wear jeans for home matches, and my eyes about fell out of my head. also, half of the kids on the team (at least frosh and sophmores) think that its dumb that they cant talk on their cell phones! COME ON!!! but thats a whole other story

Where I live there is a lot of rich kids, especially on my golf team (unfortunately not me ) but I win them over by being polite, funny and with a smooth swing and low scores. Also its always fun to beat someone who's brand new 460cc driver cost more than your golf bag and everything in it . Its all about the player not the clubs.

If you want a dress code go to a Country Club. I suppose if I wore my BBall shorts out on a round I would be frowned upon. Not that I wear them or anything, but I think people as a whole care to much about the appearence of another on the course.

Good thing the only thing that matters at the end of the day is the score. Oh yea, I guess if you had fun that counts too.

I don't know, I just feel like they should show just a little class, and at least wear some khakis or even cargos. I don't care if they're good or not, or if they tuck their shirts in (I don't), take mulligans, whatever. I just think there should be some basic respect for the game, even at the cheapest courses. In fact, some of the nicest golfers I've been paired up with wore jeans, I don't even think they were aware that it's not something you should do. I guess it's just a personal pet peeve, it's not something I dwell on though. I'll enjoy my round either way..

All is well then, it just brought to mind that guy that had a great philosophical dilemma with people using push-carts, iron covers and some other thing that I can not remember.

Don't get caught up in trying to impress other people. Just look for someone else who doesn't think they fit in either. BTW, I think everyone fits in at the cheap public courses. They're my favorite.

I say whenever in that position again just moon 'em. drop your trousers to the ground and show them your shinny apple. I'll guarantee they not look your way again, unless of course you wandered onto a club that you know swings the other way. and in that case oops, you didn't get that advice from me.

I would run into that ALL of the time in high school... I played with mostly hand-me-downs throughout my high school 'career', and I would constantly get looks from the older members at the club I was a member of.

Usually those looks turn into pissed off looks after the first 9 when they realized I was consistently outdriving them with a Rawlings driver... :)

I do not care to be around snobs, rich or otherwise. My son and I get paired with all kinds of people and we meet some really genuinely good folks. But when we get hooked up with those who think they are better than everyone else in so many ways, we simply enjoy making them look bad on the scorecard. Somehow I just seem to get more focused and I play real hard. I know I shouldn't be like that but these people annoy me. Especially when they don't have much game to speak of. Why do people act like that? I think when I play with them and my game ratchets up a notch, it's just my subconscious trying to ignore them. Anyway, my creedo is it's a gentleman's game and we should treat the game, the course and the people we are playing with respect. If we don't receive it in return, that's life.

    • I'd find a free fitting, take your clubs, and see what you can see. For example, we have a PXG fitter come to our academy every Tuesday, and he's great about sharing info about why he's having you hit a certain shaft or clubhead or something. And… if you don't see much of a change, skip it.
    • Day 1 (3 Apr 25) - Restarting the routine after a 4 day quick trip.  Got back in the groove today for some swings of the 6i and driver into the net -‘to just warm the muscles a little.  Wrapped up the day with grandson hitting 20-25 yd pitches in the backyard.  Love watching his swing and also his concept of course management, to hear him say he left himself in a good position to finish (good words from a soon to be 9 yr old)….
    • Day 185 - 2025-04-03 Had a good 2.5 hour session at Golf Evolution. Kinda glad it was still wet and windy out today as I wouldn't have gotten such a good session in if I played. Got up to 93 MPH (with a pause) on my 6I and 130 MPH ball speed (on a different slightly slower hit, a bit more de-lofted than I'll want eventually).
    • I'm highly probable for the entire weekend, thanks for doing the hard work to set it up.  I can't wait for more details.
    • I take 2nd, is a confirmation that you can eventually win your major and also is good material for having a laugh about it in the distant future.
