Hi All I am new to the forum.

I’m 54 and began golfing in the mid to late 1970’s.Β  My first set of clubs was a Northwestern Junior set that included the typical 3-5-7-9 1W-3W & putter.Β  My second set of clubs was a well-used, but well cared for set of Sam Snead Blue Ridge irons and woods from 1962.Β  They were hand-me-downs from my grandfather, a career Air Force Master Sergeant, who bought them at the PX when he was stationed in Hawaii.Β  I golfed in high school and purchased my first set of new clubs when I made the team.Β  It was a set of Lynx Predator Plus low profile irons and metal/wood woods.Β  Between the low profile irons and the unique looking woods I dare say I had the most interesting (looking) bag of clubs on my golf team.Β  What I really wanted was a set of Ping Eye 2’s, but I was limited to using my own money and the Pings just weren’t within my reach.Β  I chose the Lynx because I played a decent round with a demo set and Service Merchandise (large catalog store long since gone) had them discounted such that I could buy a 2-PW set of irons and 1W, 3W & 5W set of woods, bag, head covers, and two dozen Titleist Tour Balata 90’s and still have money left over – decision made.Β  I grew to love that set of clubs and I still have them.Β

I collect vintage golf clubs and I enjoy playing vintage clubs; in fact vintage clubs are pretty much all I play anymore.Β  I live in southeast Wisconsin so golf is not a year round activity for me.Β  Winter, you know…  I look forward to sharing some of the vintage clubs in my small collection that may be of interest to the folks on here that like that sort of thing.

Regards, Brad

Welcome.Β  I am a former Wisconsinite, born in Appleton.Β  What caught my attention are your initials, since mine are B.E.K. also.Β  A tad older ... 1952.Β  Hope you find some interesting conversations here.Β  I am not a vintage golfer or collector although my clubs are becoming more vintage each year.

We've been playing at Anetsberger golf course in Northbrook, Illinois.Β  It's a nice little par 3 course operated by the Northbrook Park District.Β  I believe that Bill is playing a Wilson Staff Duo Soft ball - he's a Wilson Man through and through!Β  I'm kind of a Titleist Man myself.Β  I have a number of balata balls stashed away, but have had great results from playing ProV1's.Β  Keep in mind that we're playing a par 3 so we're not using any woods.Β  If we were playing holes long enough to warrant a wood, I'd have one of those vintage Titleist balatas on a tee in a heart beat.Β  Can't beat the feel of a balata!!!

Β

Feel free to PM me if you would like to discuss this more, or would like to exchange contact information.

O&H.Β Β Nice to find O&H in Trader Joe's, but I need some chocolate!

Wasn't aware Bendtsen's shipped, so I'll have to check that out.Β  I'm sure I've had it before, but its probably been in excess of 20 years.Β  I see they have chocolate too.

You're very welcome!Β  I think it's pretty cool that you now have both a modern set and a vintage set of Hogan irons.Β  It should be a lot of fun to compare the two generations.Β Β Β It's been a real pleasure to get to know you and I'm looking forward to getting out on the course next year to swing some vintage clubs.

Brad
