Your whole post belittles players who practice on the course saying we don’t enjoy what we do and yet you don’t play anymore.

Havent you got that wrong...

The whole purpose of commencing this thread was to simply point out that when I played along time ago (Im 73) we all played one ball. No-one did anything else.

I was simply trying to courteously suggest that if anyone plays one ball

it might create a bit of variety by playing MORE than one ball.

Ive tried to be courteous and I get shitcanned.....

Im a new member...Im seriously considering not posting any more after

the pedantic welcome Ive received...

Even the title to the thread was changed...

How childish and authoritarian is that....

Relax. I think "The Two Mindsets of Golf" or whatever is a poor title. Your post doesn't really discuss a mindset at all, and my rounds are basically never becomes "frustrating because of a few holes."

But again, relax, man. You're reading something into posts that simply isn't there.

People have played multiple balls for decades. We've got topics on this dating back nearly 20 years.

Again, you're reading entirely too much into things. R-E-L-A-X.

Your topic title was bad. If you have a suggestion for a better one, I'm happy to change it again.

Then please explain what you are saying more clearly. If I misinterpreted your post, I apologize. But we all have different reasons for playing and I enjoy practicing as much as competition.

It's a good forum but little leeway is given.  On occasion you'll get challenged or even warned by the moderators.  But it's a great place to discuss golf, though you have to defend your positions or accept that others have a better point-of-view.  Really good people on here.  Stick around, it'll get better.

This simply isn't true. Yes people are expected to defend their positions and back up claims with facts, but just because someone chooses not to back up their opinion doesn't automatically make the other person(s) point of view better. It's not always that black and white.

Well, personally, I've accepted that others have a better point-of-view.  I've accepted that I was wrong... or misinformed.  On here, and in life in general.

I dont play golf any more, but caddy regularly for my son.

When I played back in the day it was normal for everyone to just play one balll, hole out

and record our score.

My son doesnt do this. He will go out and play nine holes, but if there is no-one behind

him, he will drop down, say six balls just off the fairway and play all six down the fairway or into

the green. He repairs his divots courteously. Doesnt even putt out...

Watching him play, I was thinking I could not just play one ball if I was playing these days.

Maybe in a saturday afternoon comp, or monthly medals, sure...but a practice round...no way...

Think about it. One ball...one shot..one chance..

How often does a practice round become so frustrating because of a few holes

which ruined your score..

Try it..dont score..just practice..you will enjoy the game a lot more

Your post doesn't make much sense to me and also seems internally inconsistent. But, in any event, "playing golf" and "practice" are two different things even if you happen to be doing the practice on a golf course. You can practice on the golf course all you want (assuming conditions allow it) but it's not "golf" - no matter how much you might enjoy it.

Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!!

Don't go away. Take a step back for a second. Listen, I know quite a few of the folks on this forum personally and they are all really good people, who love discussing golf. It seems you've become very upset because the title of your thread was changed. Think of it this way, when searching for this thread the rest of us need a way to recognize it. The moderator who changed it just tried to make it easier for the rest of us to find your thread.

Over the years I've had many thread titles changed. I've started other threads which have been merged with similar threads as well. This is a huge form. It's been around for 20 years. The moderators are just trying to keep thing tidy to help us all out.

Give us a chance. I think you'll find this really is a great place for golf talk. I'd suggest "The Numbers Thread", "The would you rather" thread, and the "General COVID-19" thread. Go in there and poke around. There's good stuff in there.

Remember a forum is a collection of personalities just like any forum that gets together in "real life". Some folks are better communicators than others. Some folks are wittier than others. (I'm looking at you @Double Mocha Man. I promise you if you hang around here you'll find stuff that will help your son's game. You'll find stuff that will challenge what you thought about some situations. You'll likely even make some friends. Besides if you go, who's going to teach me new words? I had to look up pedantic.... I had no idea what that meant. I was pretty sure it wasn't positive. But I went to Chicago Public Schools so my vocabulary isn't the strongest.

    • The term I hear most often is "double teeing" which means the course/club has starting times from both the #1 and #10 tee.  I have encountered this many times and we know if we are the first group off #10, we may well get to #1 and have to wait because there are groups still with tee times yet to tee of #1.  In most instances, where the course/club has a starter, he normally explains this situation.  In this case, the pro advised what you would could/would encounter making the turn to #1.  And, that is exactly what happened.  Probably would have been wise to talk to the pro after playing back 9 and ask when you could go off #1 since apparently that club does not double tee.   Regardless, the outburst towards the other group was uncalled for.  And, I don't blame the member for being upset.  As a member of a private club, you are responsible for the actions of your guest.  I have played many times as a guest in the UK and I am pretty damn sure my host was responsible for my actions while at the club.  I know at the clubs I have belonged to here in the US, that is the way it is.  As a matter of fact, the member may find himself being brought before management and facing possible suspension.  So, I don't blame him for being upset.  However, as the host, he really should have stepped up and put a stop to the OP's actions.  JMHO
    • Day 32: worked for about 10 minutes on my drill. Filmed it as well for a check in. I think it’s slightly better but still seeing some issues.
    • Day 44 (26 Dec 25)  -  played in the Friday men’s shootout with a twist - used the Toney Penna persimmons and MacGregor blades - had a blast playing these clubs.  They really help in zoning in on making solid ball contact.  Scoring was solid - had several looks at birdie and had a few par saves.  Overall a day of focused course management.
    • Day 2: 2025.12.27 Eighteen holes at Kauri Cliffs. Focusing on trying to keep flex in right leg during backswing.
    • Day 136 12-26 Had a different practice planned today but life happened. Worked on "wide to wide" and still working on remaining flowy. Starting the club head in front of the ball as a drill, is helping with the flow of the swing.
