Cobra is sorta underrated. The best company out there.

Raise a glass to that!

Ever since American Brands purchased Cobra, the product line has been doing nothing but improving. The Titleist boys are doing us good.

My vote is going to Macgregor.

I would vote for Hogan, MacGregor.

I have always loved the Hogan brand and think they make some A+ equipment. I actually kind of like the fact that Hogan has been under the radar because you can buy top notch Hogan equipment when it goes on clearance for pennies on the dollar.

MacGregor makes great equipment. I have a V-Foil 3 wood that I absolutely love.

I always thought that Paragon and Wilson make some decent eqiupment.

The longest driver I've ever hit is the LiquidMetal.

Company went out of business so I bought 2 of their drivers for 100 bucks each, one with a stiff shaft, one with a regular. Both look like hybrids but hit the thing beastly long.

i've recently added to my bag some persimmon and i'd like to salute louisville golf for making a great some great clubs

I would have to say Wilson, when I was in college on a budget I usually bought Wilson stuff, for a long time I played Wilson Titanium balls, then switched to the Smart-Core. Good quality for a cheap price. I think they are underated because they are available at most non-golf box stores(K-mart, Wall-mart, ect), so people treat them as cheap clubs. But I feel it is just good value for beginers, or people who don't play often enough to invest more money in equipment. Plus they have made golf equipment for all most a hundred years now too.

Anybody remember YONEX--the guys that brought us the cyberstar powerbrid and Phil's old company...They make some great clubs--but have little exposure in the States

"People think the size of the head is most important. Wrong. It's getting a quality shaft. test different shafts to see which goes the straightest. Also, more degrees of loft on the head is better than less. Eleven degrees is about right."

unfortunately Yonex have an image problem in that they are seen to be used mostly by the over 75 population..you can see how popular clubs are by looking on ebay and checking the price of second hand clubs- the price of Yonex is very low and some of it does not sell at all.

What about Tommy Armour gear and Lynx!...i used to love the BOOM BOOM ! drivers and the Paralax irons- they were excellent in their day!

I've gotta throw my 2cents in for Tommy Armour as well as Lynx. I've hit the forged Hogans, Titleists, Cobras, Nikes. The Silverscot Tour Blades are superior to them all (imho). I played Lynx parallax for most of my life, until I got the Tommy Armours, and I love them both.

Lynx used to be great I owned some of their irons. Its too bad they dont seem to have that great of stuff anymore. Im glad MacGregor has some great new stuff out that looks and feels amazing.

    • Rule 1.2b refers you to a section in the Committee Procedures (Section 5I) that helps explain what a Code of Conduct may (and may not) do.  Defining acceptable behavior (including smoking) and applying Stroke of DQ penalties are certainly within the Committee's authority. That Code of Conduct certainly should be available, either in written form or in a webpage accessible to all.  It may not show up on the "standard local rules" for an organization, the "hard card", as it sounds like its a policy of this particular golf course. Assuming that's the case it should show up on the Notice to Players for this particular event.  If you can't find it, ask someone, send an email, try to find out.   In summary, yes the Committee can DQ (or withdraw) a Player for smoking, even before or between rounds.  But its up to you to go from there, communication is the key here.

    • Hmm... I not sure I completely understand. If the course has a no smoking policy, then he shouldn't smoke at the course.  I'm assuming since you are aware of the policy, it must be written down somewhere.  As far as getting disqualified from the tournament, I would think that would be up to the committee. But it feels like it is within their power to disqualify, so why take the chance?
