In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

Awesome - when I read all these contrived sayings that require a back story and that nobody would ever use on the course other than as a lead in to a bad joke, all I can think of is the sayings I like to hear - you just listed 3 of them.

Mizuno MP600 driver, Cleveland '09 Launcher 3-wood, Callaway FTiz 18 degree hybrid, Cleveland TA1 3-9, Scratch SS8620 47, 53, 58, Cleveland Classic 2 mid-mallet, Bridgestone B330S, Sun Mountain four5.

"Rondstadt-ed" - when my drive blew by you (Blue Bayou).

"Drop-kick" - hitting the ground before the ball on a tee shot with a driver.

"Ugly with t*ts" - a bad shot that ends up okay.

When I took up golf back during the last century, I was told that the only acceptable comments about another's golf shot are:

"Ball" and "Golf shot".

How can I say nice shot if I have no idea what they were trying to do with the shot?

That being said, when playing with my regular group, we say a LOT more than that.

Most of the better players don't even say the word "good." If you're commenting it's implied. All you'll hear among better players is:

"Shot."

"Save."

"Putt."

Occasionally:

"Good miss."

I guess coming them it would be the ultimate compliment eh?

Maybe I could shorten some of my terms to "bag" and "hole".

"My ball is on top of a rock in the hazard, do I get some sort of relief?"
