When a bad shot turns out ok--worm burner rolls for miles, slice or hook hits something and comes back to the middle, etc.

I have two for those shots: "Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good", and/or "There's no picture on a scorecard - just numbers".

A bad day on the course is better than a good day in the office.

A) You need to hit alot of different clubs.
B) Whatever works for you.
C) It's the indian, not the arrow.
D) A 5 wood, 19* hybrid or a lob wedge.

When someone leaves a putt short:
You'll get it next time, Bobbit (John Bobbit)

I also call bogey's "Muggsy"...for Muggsy Bogues.

Maybe you guys should get more boring jobs and GO THROUGH all 19 pages like I did so you don't put "Does your husband play" for the 55th time. I think there's 5 pages worth of that one.
The only one I like that I will share is when you or someone's on the green but as far as could be from the pin "you're on the dance floor, you're just in the back with the fat chicks."

"My greatest fear is that when I die my wife will sell my golf clubs for what I told her I paid for them."

When I'm not play'n well I'm "floging", which of course is golfing spelled backwards.

this isn't that creative but ever since my buddy said it I always refer to it. juice... Playing out of the juice (thick rough)... That's in some juice... etc. idk stuck with me!

Another I hear a lot when some really hits a miserable shot .... 'I wouldn't have it played it that way".

I got put in a group with a single I didn't know and the jack ass told me that... it was kind of funny actually.

My buddies call balls that get good hops off trees or just randomly good hops a "Dyke Hop" because we play with a guy whose last name is VanDyke and he gets every break.

He's very consistent and just beats it 230 right down the middle and the ocassional ball he hits miles into the woods falls right down in the middle of the fairway.

Career Bests:

9 Holes--37 @ The Fairways at Arrowhead-Front(+2)

18 Holes--80 @ Carroll Meadows Golf Course(+9)

Home Course:

1) The Fairways at Arrowhead

2) Mayfair Country Club

Playing with one of those true course characters I hit a pretty long drive, his response was "I don't go that far on vacation"! Thanks Tinker.

I'm on vacation, playing with strangers, I hit a ball dead left. As a Red Sox fan I exclaim a "Mickey Mantle". Someone says a what? My response a dead yank!

I know a guy exactly like that is his name Jake? He will skip it out of the water five times and land on the green. Or it will be the smallest things and we just go nuts but we never admit it when we have 1 or 2

I'm considering calling a 3-putt par (or worse) after reaching a par 5 in two, an A-Rod. Great regular season, but chokes when it counts.

"Nice Drive, Nice 5!" - Usually said after making bogey on a par 4 from the middle of the fairway.

When someone has a nice swing, but can't play, we call them "Anna Kournikova" - Looks good but never wins.

golf partner is half irish...when he gets a lucky break i say "wow, the kid really is irish"
"good ball"
"striped"
"sick putt"
"dialed" for good yardage

"strategic lay-up", when your going for a par-5 in two and you end up topping it 100 yards down the fairway

"You're gonna need a blanket and suntan lotion, cause you're never gonna get off that beach, you jackass", every time i hit it in the bunker

"requesting permission for re-entry", when you sky your drive so high that it looks like you put it into orbit

    • Show the stats or give a convincing argument. Just because you said it is not enough argument. An even at that distance and with a disadvantage in dispersion I think that missing short/long is better than left/rigth.  So? One.. he said this in a world were statistics weren't a thing yet and also he was talking about real golf, not and invented trhead where you need to decide if it's better to be straigth or really (insert here world that describe that you hit the ball exactly the distance you want)     #1 Give me putting yips. My home course have 90% OB left.
    • I listened to the first one. It's interesting to hear you guys talk about this stuff. This one seemed to be aimed more at instructors than pupils. I'd love to hear one that's about something like how to be a good student or what sort of questions should students be asking in lessons. Aside from anything else there are a lot more people taking lessons than giving them so you'll reach a broader audience that way. As to the how to handle shorter lessons, it seems that you'd have to block off the longest possible lesson time and then cut them short as you can. That means more time twiddling your thumbs and less time teaching though unless you have people on standby, but I can't imagine that ever happens.
    • Some Lorem Ipsum going on there for a day or so 😄
    • Let me start by saying I've never had "The Yips". But I have suffered from brutal snap hook off the tee syndrome. I once entered a tournament in which I went in feeling pretty good about my game. Then I snap hooked the very first tee shot. (I didn't see it coming. No snap hooks during warm up on the range.) After that, I couldn't stop snap hooking the entire tournament. That was like 15-20 years ago and I have golf friends who to this day make fun of me for how I played in that tournament. Conversely, a buddy of ours once had the worse case of the yips I've ever seen in a tournament. Everyone felt sorry for him.  My point is in my experience you get the snap hooks you get made fun of. You get the yips you get sympathy.
    • All of them 🤣 Probably most backswing stuff is a matter of willpower.  Downswing might be much less so. Probably due to how little time there is to make an adjustment. Maybe stuff like when to weight shift. Though, physical limitations are very tough to use willpower. If your left hip is messed up, I doubt you can use willpower to use the left side the way you should.  Off the top of my head.  1) Pre-shot routine 2) Putting stroke 3) Game planning, sticking to a plan
