I have very few three putts so my distance control is good, it’s just getting them birdie putts to fall..

You must be doing a lot of things right if you have very few three-putts. For me and most everyone I've played with, eliminating three-putts is the noble goal and making birdies is a bonus.

I might add that if you use the line on the ball to align your putts, you must make sure that the line is lined up properly with your target (spot on the putting line), and that the putter is aligned with the line on the ball. And in order to make sure of that, it can't just be by eyeballing. Can you evaluate those things with a laser? Or get a putter fitting (which will effectively do that as well)?

I was using the line before and was lipping out tons of putts, until one day I asked my (full swing) instructor to have a look at it, and he said, that's because the line on your ball is lining up with the edge of the hole (on a 15 to 20 ft straight putt). He said: "don't use the line, show the white part of the ball on top, pick a dimple to look at and let your brain do all the adjustments to get lined up". I did and enjoyed and am still enjoying much greater success... and it's much faster too!

I would highly recommend getting a fitting, or having your stroke analyzed. I've been using a face balanced putter and when I had my stroke analyzed I found out I had a slight arc and needed something with 30-45° of toe hang.

A lesson is a great idea. You're hitting 9/9 GIR which tells me you're doing something right, so why not have a professional look at it. Also look at expectations. What iacas said in the very first comment was my exact thought. I play a very similar course to yours from what it sounds like and while the greens are small you can still get some 30-45' putts.

I think he meant 9/18. If he's a six index hitting 9/9, then his putting is really bad.

To be fair, I think he was just talking about 1 day rather than his average day.    And on a tiny course.   maybe he 2-putted every hole and shot even par?

Anyways...   To the OP, just gotta remember that hitting 10-15 footers is all luck.   some days they fall, other days they don't.   missing them doesn't necessarily make you a bad putter.    But, from that distance, you should be giving them all a decent look and a relatively simple putt coming back.

    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
