Last time I got something new was from carls golf land (online). I got the callaway x-22 stand and some balls. Since I just got a better job, in a couple weeks I'll be getting myself a lob and sand wedge (lost my sand wedge). Shoot.. might even get a pitching wedge to match..

2013 Goal:

A new pair of Adidas Tour360 4.0 kicks. Got the silver stripes on white/black. These are EASILY the most comfortable shoe (golf or recreation) I have ever owned. Our local Golf Galaxy had them for 149.99 (Golfsmith was 179.99) and were offering 25 bucks off any purchase over $150.

Not all purchased from a golf store but I've been bad lately and have basically replaced my whole set in the last week or so.....I recently purchased a used set of Callaway X-18's, two new Cleveland CG14 wedges; a 60* and 56*, and finally got a hand me down Adams XTD Insight A3oS driver. I've played two rounds since getting all the new gear and am pretty happy with what's in the bag now. Oh yeah I also topped it all off with a new pair of shoes....

Does everyone buy their stuff at a golf store. I wouldn't buy any equipment without going to a pro shop at a golf course and demo the equipment on the dirt at their range. I don't trust a virtual image and data.

It was a couple weeks ago, but a dozen Bridgestone e6 and a dozen Titleist NXT. I've now officially decided I don't care what ball I play for the time being, so I'll go back to whatever I find on sale at the moment.

Traded two Callaway Forged wedges and a Cleveland wedge for two Titleist Vokey raw wedges (54 (bent to 53) and 58) at the local 2nd Swing golf shop. Every club in my bag (except the $2 yard sale Bullseye) is from 2nd Swing. Love it.

    • Day 187 (05 Nov 24) -  Got in some time with the 4&5 hybrids in the backyard - hitting hard foam balls.  Rehearsing preshot routine, focusing on tempo, by reenacting some of the shorter par 4s at my regular course - hybrid off the tee, hybrid approaches.
    • Day 36 - 2024-11-05 Went downtown for a little over three hours. 90 minutes of that was doing other stuff, but I got a little practice in. Some messing with GSPro (v3 is now out) and the settings, some chipping, some little stuff. Not a ton of full swing stuff, and what I did there was mostly backswing stuff.
    • Great point - my experience from the 2004 Oakland Hills Ryder Cup. I got 4 tickets for Friday, had some buddies go with me and we saw shots on about 4 holes. You really have to decide who you want to see, then try to jump ahead to see them somewhere on the back 9. If you got into the grandstands then you'd likely have a good view only of that green/tee box.  Sidenote: I knew a guy who was a member at Birmingham CC, and he was a marshal on the 18th hole and he was out there all day, both morning and afternoon groups. And he had 1 group play the hole in the morning and another in the afternoon. Huge corporate tents around the 18 green, along with some grandstands. And you get to see maybe 6 or 7 shots counting the approach and putts.  Learned my lesson, I have no issue in going to another Ryder Cup, especially at the prices they want for 2025. I think it was $40 for a practice round (went to one of those as well) and maybe $75 for Friday/Saturday, $100 for Sunday. And it was "limited" to 20,000 tickets/day, which is still very crowded to follow 4 pairings around the course.
    • Of course he can score in the low 70's in a really short course driving it that short. But the course rating is going to be in the 60's so is not like he can call himself a scratch player.
