Thinking about buying a good old MaxFli cart bag. They're only around $100ish and I just got $60 in reward certificates from Golf Galaxy today.

Lots of new additions!

I just picked up my new irons today! Cally X-22's. Ordered through my instructor.

Also have new wedges, Bobby Jones/Jesse Ortiz/Pelz in GW, SW and LW. "New" used off of eBay.

A new putter. On sale at Sports Authority, plus a $25 cash card.

A new FT-Hybrid 4H. New off of eBay.

A new X Fairway 7W. Again, new off of eBay.

eBay has been good to me this last month or so. All of those were either brand new still in the wrappers, or used (as in taken out of the wrapper, put in the corner, and never played!)

Got a great deal at Play It Again Sports on a set of TM Burner 2.0 irons. 4-AW steel shaft. They've been gamed maybe a couple of rounds but are like brand new. The original grips have been replaced with Lamkin Crossline mediums which is great for me. I have big hands. They got them from a regular customer who won them in a tournament and decided to sell them. My price? $449. I haven't had them on the course yet. Just bought them this morning and hit a bucket at the range. Covered tees because it poured down rain all day. I think I'm going to be very happy if my range session was any indication. Those things are long. My first few hits were out on the toe and they still went straight and just as long as my old irons. Once I got my swing dialed in and started making center contact I was really impressed with the results.

In the Bag:
Driver: Cleveland Launcher Ultralight XL 270

FW: Taylor Made 300 17 degree
3-PW: Mizuno MX-23

AW: Mizuno TP-T11 52/07 (Bent to 50)
SW: Mizuno TP-T11 56/10

LW: Mizuno TP-T11 60/05

Putter: Original Ping Zing

Ball: Wilson Staff FG Tour

Burner 2's are REAL long. The original Burners are long due to the increased loft (basically your 8i is a 7i, 7i is a 6i, etc) but the face is nice and thin on the 2.0's. They're really awesome sticks, I don't think you'll have any complaints about them.

Got my new bridgestone stand bag (the black and white/silver one), a dozen bridgestone FIX's to try out, and 2 new cleveland wedges to round out my bag. Only Launchers (to match my irons) but for 40 bucks a pop, more than enough for my game. The time before that got my hibore xls for 40 bucks as well. Wish i had a golf galaxy closer to my house, but until then Dick's has been serving me well.

Probably gonna grab a decent cart bag. Nothing fancy since I walk 75% of my rounds but nothing irks me more than hearing my irons fly around in my stand bag when they're on a cart.

Our club had a pop the balloon special today getting you anywhere from 30-70% off of apparel. Originally it was just slacks/shirts/shorts/skirts but they decided to throw shoes into the equation. I ended up getting a pair of FootJoy contours and three shirts for $150.

Love that my local range's golf shop is emptying out basically their entire inventory. They're expanding and getting rid of everything...Nike Tour VR Wedges are $50

    • Day 16: range night! Worked on long game for about 40 minutes, with a good solid 20 minute focus on my priority piece. Things improving there. Bookended that with some wedge and driver work. Finished up with about 30 minutes of short game. Working on distance control and all types of shots and lies. Short game is probably as good as it has ever been.
    • You should be able to install it yourself, honestly. You could easily blow it on and use some one-sided duct tape or something so it stays in place. That's what I've done with one of my grips.
    • Day 22 (12 July 26) - worked on putting tempo today using metronome for accurate tempo.
    • Hi all, My Edel putter seems to have developed a rattle.  I don't think it's a big deal, as I mostly hear it when I'm tapping down ball marks on greens.  However, I am debating getting it fixed, especially as I intend to play a lot of golf in August and September, and to continue playing regularly after that of course too.  My issue is I think fixing it would entail the fixer (golf shop repair station?) removing the grip and, presumably, applying a new one.  My problem is two-fold.   First, I like the grip on it, although after eleven years, maybe it's worth replacing.   The bigger (second) issue is getting the grip.  I don't like the flat-fronted putter grips anymore.  I have the round one on my putter, and I suppose I could buy one from Edel's website, but would a golf shop install a grip I bought elsewhere and brought in?  Or could they order one if Edel is not a supplier of theirs?  I don't recall ever seeing any Edel products in a Roger Dunn or PGA Superstore, although the era when I would go to a store and browse has long since ended (for better or worse).  I'd also wonder what the timetable is, as I'm leaving for a seven week trip in under three weeks. Any suggestions on what to do would be very welcome, whether about the rattle or the grip, together or independently.  Thank you!
    • I'm glad to know that picking up grass and letting it go doesn't help.  It felt like it shouldn't, but I'm glad to hear there's a good reason why.  It makes sense that wind is different higher up than it is near the surface. For a while, I was in the habit of checking the prevailing wind direction before playing.  That helped if I wasn't sure.  However, I still am not really sure whether something is a 5% wind or a 10% wind (and, of course, I know that a "helping" wind helps about half as much as the same wind hurting).   One of these days, I'll learn how to figure out what to do differently if the prevailing wind is 10mph vs 20 mph.
