I’m wearing gloves size small and normally use tour velvet standard size. I happened to get hybrid clubs with crossline undersize grip and I kind of like it. Should I switch grips on iron to all undersized?
I started to install my own grips because I found out the shop didn’t remove old tape just add another layer on top and made some clubs feel a little awkward. I recently self install (air) two grips one with tour velvet standard 0.60 and another with tour wrap undersized 0.58.

TV standard 1 layer of blue tape, I usually grip down about an inch.

TW underside 1 layer of blue tape.

I would recommend switching one club the the smaller size and play with it for a while too see if you like it. If you do then switch the remaining clubs.

Grip size is mostly about comfort. So… sure.

I switched from midsize grips to standard several years back and have no complaints.  Worst case scenario, change back next time you re-grip if you decide you miss the standard size grips.

PS - I use the Tour Wraps, really like them.  (I like the Tour Velvet as well, but always preferred the wrap style more)

What’s happening? Is it a comfort issue or a performance issue? Do you find yourself regripping/losing control of the club in your backswing?

Smaller grips can influence more active hands, promote shots to the left. Less club control in the backswing.

Larger grips can influence quieter hands, promote shots to the right. More club control in the backswing .

Thanks, I have undersize TW installed on 6-iron, I was thinking about pitching wedge but I don’t have any problem with old grip and can hit the ball as straight as it can be.

Kind of comfort issue but I’m not sure it it related to size of grip. At course I don’t have any problem for the whole 18 holes, at home after about 20-30 balls I found myself adjust my grip quite a bit.

I tried a few hit to net after installed the grip and I feel my tail wrist flip more than usual. I will see what happen at driving range.

If you have the ability to put them on and take them off with air then what are you waiting for? Do a couple of clubs (maybe the even numbers) and see how it goes.

Update, undersize grip wasn’t for me. With standard grip and 1 tape my finger tip still touch my palm and I feel more firm grip but not tight.
The grip tour wrap, shiny part become dull just from 2 practice sessions. I ordered SuperStroke traxion wrap and pure grip combo to try out because I want something softer than tour velvet. Any other grips should I try that not too pricey?

I play the Pure DTX. The Combo has the DTX on top. I like it because I still get a good grip when my hands are sweaty.

The two you are trying are great choices. Not many others are softer that would be cheaper. Perhaps the Golf Pride Tour Wrap 2G?

I moved from the Jumbomax Ultralight Smalls to the Tour Velvet +4 Standards with one strip of buildup tape after a fitting. Rain, unhappily, and Mother’s Day celebrations, happily, have stopped from trying out the change. I am hoping to beat the rain today to give it a try on the range.

I used Winn Dri tac oversize grips for years to protect my hands, but they are a little more pricey. I practice chipping and slow motion swings pretty frequently and have noticed that the rubber grips are taking a toll on my hands!

Are those grips soft? When I was looking for replacement grips they felt pretty firm, but that was for maybe two seconds on a metal rod at my local golf shop.

they are much softer than chord or MCC grips. But the raised rubber gives good traction. @billchao uses them when actually feels like changing his grips! 😜

They’re still in a box in the basement.

I consider that an old myth. It's more about comfort - grip size doesn't materially affect how your wrists/hands work near impact.

Finally installed, SuperStroke on Driver and Pure grip on hybrids. Already have a round with SuperStroke. It is soft but not as tacky as tour wrap.
For pure grip just received today and installed one on hybrid to test out since I never play with +4 grip. I do have a few questions, though.
First of all I use regular tire inflator to install the grip. The butt end of pure grip seems to have a little give compared to those tour velvet or SuperStroke. Is this normal? I also ordered that green attachment, as little as I know the thread is larger than regular tire inflator, is there any adapter that I can use attachment with regular tire inflator thread?

If you bought the combo Pure grip, it’s a bit harder to install than their other grip’s because the rubber is thicker at the bottom. If you have mask tape or blue painters tape, you can put that on the shaft and the grip will slide on better.

I use the Pure adapter (green thingy). I believe @ChetlovesMer uses something else that works equally well.

If you have a little give try more air and push it down a little more. If it doesn’t move you can tap the grip on the floor. Needs to be a firm tap. Good luck!

It should be the same.

I just use one of these.
Works fine.
But I will say that I put the golf club in a soft jaw vice to hold it while I slide the grip on.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.
