The US Open starts this Thursday.  I just found out that a guy from my area go in as an alternate. He goes to Ohio State, and went to Green HS in Uniontown, Ohio (about 20 minutes south of me).

Please dont get  me started  on pace  of  play. Maybe  if they issued stroke penalties on a regular  basis  for  slow  play instead  of  meaningless warnings play would speed  up.. You make  good  points and  i will wait  till i make any further  posts on the ease  of the  course to see what  happens the rest  of the week. I will post  good things about  how  my favs are doing, Scheffler, Koepka, and Rahm. 

Same dumb schtick since joining.

If I counted correctly, 11 of 57 players that have completed thier round are under par.  That is @ 19% under par so @ 81% at or over par.  And only 2 of thouse are better than -3.

I actualy like that the course is playable.  I remember Chamber's Bay a few years back.

Welp, looks like the pins are all at the bottom of the bowls. They are curling them in from 8-10 feet like nothing.

As a disclaimer, I ve only seen three holes so far..he he.

      When you are penalized for hitting into the sand trap the penalty is having to hit it out of the sand, not out of three inches of water. A sand trap is not the same as a water hazard. A sand trap is not supposed to be under water. It is a unique condition caused  by weather and poor drainage. Most local leagues like ours allow the free drop in this type of situation, as long as there is no area in the bunker to legally drop. This is what I’m talking about, sometimes the official rules of golf don’t align with common sense. That’s why they are finally starting to change them. For example, when wind blows your ball off the green. That was a stupid rule. People being able to call the tv network to say they saw a players ball move. That was a stupid rule. I’m just saying, these are rules made up a long time ago, and it’s time to modernize them.

      Consider it another way: normally, it's a two-stroke penalty to move your ball out of a bunker (unplayable). The ACC reduces it to just one.
