It was so close that one of the most iconic sports car never was made. People with vision, push past the nay sayers and created a gem. What impresses me is that Mazda has kept the original vision of the Mazda the same and refuse to bend to public sway. In doing so, they have created the best selling LWS, light weight sports car of all time. To me, this just shows you do not need to chase and change the original vision of the design. You can enhance.

I always loved the Miata. I was prepared to buy one back in 2020, but they didn’t have any available for me to test drive.

You see, the 911 has a frunk which is great for my push cart and back seats for my clubs. Even beyond golf, the four seats are  needed for driving both of my kids around. It’s a utility vehicle 😃

You should check out the podcast Everyday Driver. There is one big 911 fan. Every Tuesday they do Q&A from write-ins. A lot of car recommendations. The 911 pops up a lot 😉

My wife has had two Miatas, a 1997 and  2007. Both are a blast to drive. The ‘97 was great on backroads and around town. It had an excellent first three gears and handled great. On the highway it always seemed to want one more gear as it was a 5 speed.

The 2006 doesn’t have that great a 1st gear, so off the line acceleration is not as good, but it has the 6th gear. It does handle like a dream though.

It is not a golfer’s car BTW. The trunk is tiny.

That’s Paul, right? I used to watch a lot of their YouTube videos.

Yea that’s why in hindsight I’m happy I didn’t end up getting one. I think if I were to get a 2 seater now I’d have to go with a Boxster.

I had the use of a friend's silver Miata in the late 1990's.  Driving on the banked two-lane roads around Silverdale, Washington with the top down and the music blaring, was pure driving pleasure.😊

    • Day 126: another busy day, so just did some mirror work. Checking set up and backswing and working on a few downswing feels.
    • Day 310 - Working on my follow-through. Higher chest, belt towards the target. Small swings at first, building to a fuller swing (still not thrilled with my short backswing).
    • Day 201 (19 Nov 24) - Walked the back nine at Minnesott today, played the “white” tees with the persimmon woods and bladed irons.  It’s a challenge I really like as the clubs are shorter in overall distances.  It really forces me focus on the value of the approach game.     Somehow yesterday’s post did not load / so it’s above.  Today (Day 202) I did some backyard short yardage work - 7i dink  and rolls, 9i chips and 50deg pitches - working to get it in before the rain started around noon.
    • Day 51 - 2024-11-20 Played nine holes of Sanctuary Moon with a 6I while pausing in the backswing and otherwise just practicing. If you're into Star Wars, or don't actively hate it… this is worth checking out.
