Dang, what a good tournament. Rory’s last five approach shots were stupid good.

They were all with in 15-ft and many with in 5-ft.

I think this beats Tiger’s 2019 win…forgive me for that.
…Maybe not, but they’re right there neck & neck in my book….I’ll rephrase, I don’t think I’ve ever wanted someone to win & was happier when they did more than Rory today, but Tiger in 2019 would be really close.

Was exciting to watch the win for sure.  Really thought he was going to implode after the dbl on one, then he went on to play his game and settled in like a seasoned pro.  Was so hoping it would be in regulation, but then again to have two great players have a playoff just made it that much sweeter.  With the Grand Slam monkey’s off his back - we may just see an even more revitalized Rory….

I think Rory goes on a run now. He finally got the one he needed to really make his mark.

I agree. I know it’s golf and extremely difficult at their level, but now Rory will play with a huge albatross off his back.

Ben Crenshaw on GC this morning had a really nice reflection on yesterday's round. Taking a moment here to marvel at some of the greatest approach shots in a single round considering the context. Of all the spectacular shots, the two recovery shots through tree openings, 2nd shots on 15th and 17th, wedge approach in the playoff and the pured 4 iron on 4th green were of highest quality. Imma watch those a few times again in the coming weeks.

I have to say I agree with Ben. It was impressive. I enjoy the Masters every year, I feel like this year gave us something really entertaining, but it's also possible I'm just a prisoner of the moment.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

    • Eh. You're tricking yourself. You can still miss right or left, and what you've created is a situation where you HAVE to miss (but the right amount) to make the putt. That's not for me.
    • I can see a point in this.  If you play a straigth 3 footer with a square face aiming at the hole, you can miss both ways, with a close face or an open one. If you aim rigth an close the face at impact (like tiger used to do), physically you can still miss left or rigth but mentally you are only missing left (closed face) and having only 1 miss can give you a boost in confidence. I putt this way on fade putts and aim left and open the face on draw putts, never liked the uncerteinty of putting square to the target.  I apply something like this on approach shots, only use low or high shots and for middle shots I use a low shot with more loft ot a high shot with less loft. This shots are always what they meat low or high, a middle one can go a little towards the high and the low depending on the AoA of each shot making it mentally a little more uncertain what is going to be.
    • Yeah, I'm not sure if he is genuine or not either but that's not why I'm giving him props.
    • I really liked this videos.    I wonder about how to effitiently apply force to the handle of the club on the downswing.  Me personally used to apply force to the grip in the direction off the ball. I had a very steep angle of attack with my hands to the ball.  After looking at this videos I started to apply force downwards in the beginning of the backswing and then towards the flag/target when I was about to hit the ball.  After looking at pro players, they all start to lift their hands before hitting the ball. I don't know if it is because of pushing with their left leg up or because they apply force upwards to the grip when they reach the ball, or something else?
