Yeah, I saw that. I'm assuming that will be considered desicration of the course or something and whatever consequences. It should.

I imagine there might be a fine, that's what the PGA Tour does for bad behavior.  Not sure if the USGA has any kind of Code of Conduct that would address this.

I’m baffled at how many people I’ve been seeing firing at par 3 pins this weekend. I’ve specifically been sitting on 6 & 13, and granted they’re professionals and getting up and down when they miss, but still surprised that they’re going to some tucked pins.

Ortiz was doing lift clean and place (I think). Why did he do a drop instead of placing?

He took relief for temporary water; that's a drop. Not sure why you thought he would be lift, cleaning, and placing/replacing.

Maybe it's if they are all very long par 3's, why not just go at it because aiming at the center doesn't guarantee you make the green. Also, they are all very confident, lol.

Now the announcers are complaining about Burns not getting the relief on 15 for supposed standing water. 

The rule is if you take your stance, if there is water visible at your feet you get relief. There was none. By the rules, by TWO officials, he was not given relief. They need to stop this, it's a bad break so they should get relief.

Well, after that horrible break early in the round when his ball hit the flag stick launching his ball off the green. What resiliency just to stick with it and close out the U.S. Open.

Obviously Erik has the right answer.  In my memory, the USGA has never used MLR E-3, lift clean and place.  Even if they did, they wouldn't start using it in the middle of a round.  If a competition starts, something like LCP is never adopted in the middle of a round.
