L: never hit full - 70?

With these numbers i can play courses up to 6700 yards long.  Longer than that and we have a problem.

Courses 6400 and below - i can hit an iron/hybrid of off every other tee.

Brand new irons (jpx825 pros) and still getting used to them.  Hopefully will get closer to 200 yards with a 4 iron by the summer.  Driver should get closer to 250 also. Have been taking lessons for past 2 years - index is a bit inflated - hoping to be as close to single as possible this summer. At the end of the last summer started posting some low 80's very frequently :)

All my distances will be in meters, so add 10% for yards. These are the clubs I would use in these distance ranges to the hole, not how far I try hit them. I got some gaps, but I find a way I guess depending on the shot.

Driver: 250-265 average (and the odd one that will go another 5-10)

3W 220-230 carry + roll

3H 200 carry, what ever the roll does if I need it off the tee or par 5 approach.

9i 120-130

PW 105-120

50* anywhere inside 105

54* anywhere inside 90

58* I rarely use this club based on distance. Its about the shot I need. I wont stand 70m out and blast it.

After playing 1 year, a few lesson and constant range sessions this is the absolute truth. 17 years old, 6'2" 220lbs.

Driver: 270-280(carry)

3-Wood: 245-255(carry)

5-Wood: 235-245(carry)

4-Hybrid: 215-225(carry)

3 iron: 240

4 iron: 235

5 iron: 225

6 iron: 215

7 iron: 195-205

8 iron: 185

9 iron: 165-175

PW: 145-155

SW: 125-135

56 Degree: 115

60 Degree: 95-105

64 Degree: 65-85

*Note - I tend to generate a lot of swing speed from the length of my arms that allows me to swing harder and hit the ball higher which creates the long shots. I'm not a hip action tour pro genius that found the secrets to a long ball. I find it comfortable and normal to swing a driver 110-115 mph. I should probably ease off but once I take away from the ball my downswing just generates a lot of power and it turns out fine.

I have been playing for about 10 years now. I am 20 years old and have had many lessons but do not have irons that fit my game. They spin to much so they do not go that far.

But

Driver : 270 carry

3 wood: 235

2 hybrid: 220

4 iron: 185

8 iron: 145

9 iron: 135

PW: 125

49 degree: 115

54 degree: 95

59 degree: 70

I bent my wedges because I know the shots that i need at my home course. I personally need to find new irons because I out drive everyone I play with but 20-30 yards on good shots but they hit their irons the same distance or further than me.

The post above was from last July.  New year, new season. I'm about 10 yards shorter with the driver than last year but still in the fairway about 70% of the time.  Getting old, and getting old with arthritis, really sucks.  As I read once, growing old ain't for pussies.  I'm 57, act 37, and on a bad day golf like I'm 10 years older than I am.  Thank goodness for anti-inflammatories and pain meds.

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing.  He doesn't say anything in his post about HOW he hits his 2-iron, just that he hits it 230.  No real reason to suspect he doesn't.

Does he mean to say "wow, really, a blade 2-iron 230? lol" ??  (Since I notice from the guys signature that he plays tour edge v-blade forged.

Still, what's so lol-ish about that???

I'm certain the many many posts are exactly accurate and that a true averages were posted instead of that fluke killer shot. That being said, launch monitors have nothing to do with the actual game of golf when someone is posting average distances. They don't transfer to the game on the course I have found. I'm just going to bet, that most posters if they were on a course would find themselves much shorter in total distance than the posts I have read, especially if hitting the fairway and staying in it is a requirement.

A banana ball or a hard hook may actually travel that far, total carry, but one would be in the adjacent fairway. That kind of a shot really shouldn't be considered IMHO.

I'm old, and broken, will never hit the ball total distance over 250 if the tee is not elevated and the fairway is flat (thus keeping my roll to a minimum). Even 250 down the center is a hard one for me. I actually end up attempting and succeeding to hit my drives and fairway shots 220 to 240 and they end up in the center of the fairway if I do my part and let the club do its part.

My fairway shots end up the same since I hit my tee shots off the grass.

I can usually get 440 to 475 down the center of the fairway in two shots if the distance is required, but that's my max.

Everything else is the short game.

My hat's off to you young bucks and low handicap golfers for being able to hit the ball as far as the previous posts indicate, especially with long irons which even the pros have turned away from in many cases and have gone to the hybrid or fairway woods in lieu of a driver. Just over the past 3 days or so I saw it done dozens of times at the Cadillac Classic. Lots of fairway woods and hybrids being used on the tee box and these guys do it for a living.

OK, been reading this thread for a while, my turn.

At the end of last year had a revelation and found out trying to kill the ball was killing my distance.  Took a more relaxed, and slower swing.  My distances (and accuracy) have improved.

Can't do averages with my club distances, but I can give an aproximate range for my driver and I can tell which club I use for a certain distance.

Driver i hit anywhere from 230 on a popup out to 300 on a good one, usualy in the 240 -270 range on my drives.

All of these are with the roll out.

3wood I can't use that one yet.

5wood is my 200 yard club but only off a tee.

    • I don't think anyone will really care.   It's your call.  Just be consistent.
    • I agree, until we are watching the 18th hole in the dark or waiting for the champion to finish and it's been 5+ hours
    • Question for the group. The course I normally play at has 27 holes - 3 9s that they use to for 18 in the various combinations. Is it okay to declare* if I’m playing front or back when I play 9 on this course? I’m figuring I need to declare before I play a shot. *meaning just say to myself that this is the back 9. Curious what people think. Of course, my only holes left are 13 and 17, so I’m going to declare the back 9 for the rest of the year. Probably only one or two more rounds though.
    • This is my opinion as well. I would love to see the LPGA take the lead on this.    This.
    • I agree in general. The one way in which the viewer will notice the pace of play is just that "it's been an hour and Nelly Korda or Scottie Scheffler have only played four holes." Or if for some reason they show a lot of shots of players just standing around when they could be showing golf shots. But I think Andy Johnson said it most recently/best, playing fast is a skill, too. I would love for pro golfers to play faster. You'd see the players you want to see hit more shots in the same time than they do now. So I don't disagree with the pace of play stuff, and hope they can find ways to do it. Heck, the LPGA should leap at the chance to differentiate itself in this way, IMO. So: I stand by what I said in that the TV viewer really doesn't notice much about pace of play. It's rare when they do. I support increasing the pace of play wholeheartedly. But my top five reasons don't include TV ratings or viewership.
