I voted 32, I figure I'm not going to 3 putt more than once, but I probably won't hit every green, so I might have some chips where I have a close 1 putt.

Well, I two putt a lot, and three putt some . . . and sometimes I four putt. I really need to learn how to put . . .

Mine for the last few rounds was 32.94. I didn't see an option for 33. So I finally got to round DOWN.

I usually have 29 to 31 putts. I average 13 to 14 greens in regulation and got up and in 50 to 70% of the time. I usually have 2 to 4 birdies per round.

The majority of the time I two-putt. I very rarely three-putt, and I usually get a handful of one-putts a round. Last two rounds I have cards here for I had 31 and 32 putts, and that's fairly representative.

I'm a bogey golfer who averages low 30s for putts-per-round (I said 32). Now if only I could get my ball striking in order...

I'll usually have about 35 putts a round so roughly 40% of my shots on an average day. Although last week I had 28 putts when I shot my new personal best.

I average 35.38 putts per round for 20007 to the present. That includes a very memorable 6 putt.

Played 5 rounds so far in 2009 and have just started using scorecard (great program by the way) to track my stats. My putting needs obvious work. High round of 40 putts and low of 32.

8 strokes a round is a huge difference! I believe I read in a golfing magazine that the ideal number is 31.

I'm sorry dude, but that made me laugh WITH you not AT you. Don't you hate it when they cut the hole right on a ridge? I'm guessing....

My average is right around 32.

When I hit a green in regulation I rarely take more than 2 putts to get in the hole. When I have to chip up, I'm about 25% one putt and 75% 2 putt. My chipping is the one part of my game that I can make the biggest change with a bit more practice. I need to get that ratio back to where it was a few years ago, when I was better than 50% getting up and down.

Most rounds when I total up the putts, it's 15/17, or 14/17, or 17/16. Tends to stay in the same general range. Very rarely do I stray very far one way or the other. One round last year I only had 11 putts in the first 10 holes and 25 for the round.

Three rounds in '09 have produced 26,29 and 32 for an average of... 29 putts/round. I'd be extremely happy with an average of 28.50 at the end of the year. 28.75 will do too. Unfortunately I did break my goal of no 3-putts for the year today. But only 1 in 36 holes. I'll try and keep it at just one for the year.

Well dang......the options went from 35 straight to 32! 33.7 ppr last year. Goal for this year is to increase my GIR's to 50% and drop the putts below 33.

FWIW, unless I'm looking at putts in relation to GIR, it doesn't mean much to me. If I'm not hitting greens, my putts had better be a lot lower than when I'm hitting them!

If you hit a lot of greens per round, your putts/round stat will be higher than if you only hit 10 greens per round.....unless you are shooting under par when hitting a lot of greens. There are a few stats I look at to see how well I'm putting. Most important the is greens in regulation stat. Second is up/down %, then it is putts per round.

My stats - Greens in Reg. 84%
Up/down 64%
putts/round 29.6

My swing thoughts:

- Negative thinking hurts more than negative swinging.
- I let my swing balance me.
- Full extension back and through to the target. - I swing under not around my body. - My club must not twist in my swing. - Keep a soft left knee

I've always been a good putter...until the last 18 month or so. I just lost it. I've tried 3 different putters as well as different stances and grips. I've practiced more on putting than anything else. My issue is distance control. My line is almost always really good, I just seem to be either way long or way short, leaving myself difficult 2nd putts. Most rounds these days I have close to the same number of one putts and three putts. My average for last year was 33.73, which is a full stroke over previous year (I started putting bad the second half of 2007) and almost 3 stokes worse than 2006. In my defense (although I don't deserve a defense), I am hitting more greens in regulation (about 2 more) than previous years. But then again, my chipping has been better, which about negates the more GIR. It's something I am planning to work on a lot this year.
