So I've been thinking about getting a new 3-wood. What wood around $175 or under would you suggest?

Give the Nike SQ a try, you will have plenty of money left over. Or maybe demo the cleveland launcher, that looks a nice club.

You could try the titleist 909s. They go for 199$. If you dont like that try the 906f4.

The Taylor Made Burner drivers are always easy to hit and tend to be very long. I recently saw the TM Burner 2007 or 08 model burner at Dick's Sporting Goods for $129. You can find a lot of models that are a year or 2 old that will be less than $150 and are just as good as the newer stuff, despite what the manufacturers want you to think. The Mizuno F-60 is another model that is really good and in your price range.

Check out some of the deals online right now. You can get a nike SQ Sumo2 5900 driver and fairway wood for 200. Not too shabby of a deal if you ask me.

I play the mizuno f-60 3 wood. I love it. I use it alot when my driver is starting to fail me and the distance is great. Got it for like 80 bucks at a golf expo, sure you can find that for cheap.

And as someone else said theres alot of good burner deals out there.

The Nike Sumo2 fairway wood was one of the ones I demoed last year, and I really did like it, and for $40 more, why not get a brand new driver? I'll definitely have to look into that one.

Give the Taylormade Burner a try, it's only $129 at golf galaxy. And if you don't like the burner, you should try out the mizuno f-60.

Driver: FT-9 7.5*
3 Wood: Burner 14.5*
Hybrid: SQ sumo 3 20*
Irons: Burner 4-Pw
Wedges: Oil Can 52*, Spin Milled 56*, Spin Milled 60* Putter: Crossbax Blade

The original Hibore. It's one of the best I've hit, and should be 80-90 bucks.

In my stand bag:
909D3 with 10.5 degrees of loft and a 45 inch Fujikura Rombax 6Z08, x-flex
909F3 15* with a stock Diamana Blue
FT 18* with an Aldila NV
X-forged ('07), 3-PW with Project X 6.0 CG12, 53/11, and 58* with DSG Red X2, 33"All with Lamkin Crossline Full Cord. (except the putter of...

my recommendations for 3 woods would be:
1. Nickent Fairway Woods
2. Sonartec GS Tour (they are selling brand new ones on ebay right now for around $60)
3. Tour Edge Geomax Bazooka - these are ULTRA cheap (around $45 brand new on Ebay) and are actually really good fairway woods. i bought one recently just because of the price and im amazed at the feel, forgiveness and length these have. if you want to go cheap, give one a try. they arent bad at all. i was impressed
4. Mizuno F-60 - i recently bought a 4 wood brand new on ebay for $50. very nice fairway wood with a good feel to it.
5. Mizuno MX-700 - if $$$ isnt an issue, retail they go for $199 but you can get em on ebay for $150 (brand new). they are GREAT fairway woods

You could try the titleist 909s. They go for 199$. If you dont like that try the 906f4.

I second that, I've tried several FWs and despite the fact that Titleists aren't as forgiving, they grow on you more so than Taylormades, Nikes, etc. Of course, I think that FWS are pretty personal clubs, like wedges or putters, so its really your call. I believe Annika Sorenstam used some Callaway Steelhead Pluses from the 90's until relatively recently, and Tiger's Titleist FW was the last club in his bag to switch to Nike (besides his putter)

What's in My Extreme Lite Bag:
Driver: 909D2 9.5* w/ stiff Made for Titleist Voodoo
3-Wood: 904f 15*
2- Hybrid: 18* Heavenwood
3-PW: X-18 w/ steel Uniflex shaftsSW: Forged 56* LW: chrome 60*Putter: 34" White Hot Two-BallBall: NXT Tour

I'd go w/a Callaway FT Tour or (depending on your perferences) the non-Tour FT .

I'm absolutely loving my FT Tour so far.

I have the 909 F2 and I'm very happy with it. It replaced a Cleavland Hi-Bore that never really worked well for me. In the past I simply hit a Hybrid when a 3 wood was what I really needed. It was priced at $175 at my club but the pro let me have it for $112. They had a program going that allowed me half off the retail price so I bought the 3 wood since I already had picked up the D3 driver. I have always been looking for a 3 wood and this one is working for me. You really need to get out there and find out which one will work for you.

Woods: Titleist 909 D3, Titleist 909 F2
Hybrids: Taylormade Rescue
Irons: Titleist AP-2
Wedges: Titleist Vokey spin milled
Putter: White Hot 2 ball.

Adams XTD fairway wood, I would not recommend it if you already play a fade. The ball rockets off the club face. Adams speciallizes in their hybrids and fairway woods.

ive demoed a tm r9 tp and non tp 13 degree and it felt awesome and now im looking for one to buy but i also tried a titleist 906f2 15.5 degree and it felt good to but the one fairway wood i didnt like was the new nike dymo. i hit it fine but it just didnt feel good, the driver felt good but the fw felt nothing like it, it was dead and just didnt have any feel to it. so i would highly recommend looking at a taylormade r9 and a titleist 906f2 or f4.

That's what I did and I just finished my first round with them today. I'm pleased. Supplies are harder to find with this $199 deal....I was lucky the Dicks Sporting Goods store in Flourence, SC was well equipped. The Augusta store hasn't been since this deal started.

Another 3 wood that keeps getting rave reviews around our course and one that my father is loving since picking up the 3W version last week is the 2007 version of the TM Burner. Everyone seems very pleased with the high launches the club yields. Once again, Dicks is blowing them out for just a tad over $100.

I see what you mean; the Golfsmith around here has the right driver for me, but all the SQ Sumo2 3-woods they have are regular flex. I need stiff, and they only have 5-woods in stiff. :(

EDIT: Forgot to ask: What are the differences, performance-wise, between the Sasquatch 2 fairway wood, and the Sumo2 fairway wood?
