Their are going to be Idiots everywhere who are willing to do dumb things with guns, but in the countryside has less crime, crime that does exist is does not have direct victims as much, but Guns are a different animal in the cities.

While their are arguments for both sides I think people, who without training and regular practice, buy guns for "protection" are fooling themselves. People without the proper training and practice are endangering themselves, their families and everyone around them by owning a gun for "protection".

Handgun bans have a negative effect only because of how they fuel the black market, its free money, go buy 5 handguns in georgia for 200 a pop sell em for 1k a piece in the NYC. There aren't any border crossings, its low risk and high reward and it kills people.

not true....from Ga to NYΒ  on I-95, you cross at least 6Β  STATE borders, all of which have laws against transporting guns..some with severe penalties, like Maryland, if yer caught with a handgun in yer vehicle..they won;t recognize a legal bordering state CCW permit!!!! get pulled over there and tell me Low-risk.....

Unless you look and smell like a sketch ball how many traffic stops end with your trunk getting searched?

You get pulled over, they check your seat belt make you blow in at tube maybe but unless your an idiot theres you wont get caught. Its easy.

You cany buy guns in NYC without a background check and waiting period as well as classes ect. ect. yet somehow thousands of guns find their way onto the streets.

Ive driven to North Carolina from NYC on at least 10 different occasions without getting pulled over. Those 10 trips to similar location with lenient gun laws would have been enough to on a small scale smuggle 100 or more small firearms into new york. The risk of getting pulled over is no greater then any other car out there so long as you follow traffic laws.

Its too easy its stupid. Handgun bans in major cities have a great goal but the end product is more guns with less control over them and less training for the ones carrying them then their ever would be if you could get a legal gun for 30% of what an illegal one costs.

I hope this bump attracts attention. I just got back from the range, not golf range, but shooting range. Every friday is shooting day with some friends. My 686 was pretty good at 50 feet today, kept them all in a 5 inch circle off hand.Β

I haven't fired a gun in a few years, but I still own my two. Three if you count a pellet gun I got for an occasional nuisance squirrel. (Haven't shot it, either.)

I do not currently own a gun but grew up with them and will own one again.Β  Β I think I shot my first shotgun around 8 years old.Β  It was only a small .410 but it still bruised my shoulder until I learned better how hold it.Β Β In time I learned to handle it and moved up to larger guns and was pretty good with skeet.Β  Did a little duck hunting but mostly is was clay pigeons.

I was never much into handguns.Β  That was by brother's interest.

One of my favorite guns, which I wish I still had, was a single load .22 rifle.Β  Not good for much of anything but a friend refinishedΒ the wood stock and it was a gorgeous gun and was rather old.Β  I never know the real age of the gun but I got it @ 1977 and it was old then.

Now, I know "City Life" and "Country Life" are different and here is one difference.Β  In the farm country where I grew up some would drive to high school with the guns in a rack in the window of the pickup truck.Β  Try that today and likely to get arrested or suspended.

Β Well, I make up for the both of you in frequency and volume. I shoot every friday, and mentioned, and have about 15 hg's and 6 rifles. It is as exhilarating as golf for me. Although, if I had a choice on a particular day to go shooting or play golf, that would be a tough one, but I think a round of golf might win, but depends on the circumstances. I also reload my own ammo, which is a good thing nowadays with the ammo shortage.

We had a kid in my district where I used to work who did civil war reenactments, he had a musket loader (is that the right term?) that had its barrel filled with cement and he got suspended for having it in the bed of his truck. Had all his reenactment uniform in the truck also, so his story made sense.

Things have changed. I grew up in a smaller town, some grape farmers, and people would drive their trucks to school with two or three rifles in the gun racks in the back window of the truck for deer hunting. Or shotguns for turkey. Or whatever.

Don’t really shoot for fun much due to cost. I’d rather spend my money on golf.Β

I have a glock 40, .22 bolt action rifle, and 12 gauge with an extended magazine. My father in law, who I shoot with sometimes, has quite the collection for me to use as well. One of my favorites of his is the ak pistol.
