When you play golf as a single you never know who you
will get paired with. Today I teed off alone but by the
3rd. hole I joined up with Bob, Danny, and Tom.

Tom is a truck driver and his buddy Danny is a PG county
police officer.

Bob was playing with his partner. Bob is 86 years old, walks,
and has a motorized push cart that looks as old as I am. Bob
is from Maine and travels around in his motor home and plays
golf :)

Bob's partner rides along with the golf clubs in a little basket
and has his own umbrella when it gets to hot.

I am totally missing something in this post.

I think it's great that Bob walks the course, plays at that age and travels all over. But the partner? Is it a dog or something?

Not sure if there is a pic or something that I am not seeing....

I am totally missing something in this post.

There was a GREAT picture on the original post with 86 year old Bob walking behind his cart with a dachschund in a plastic basket above the clubs. It was great! I wonder what happened to the picture in the original post though. Hopefully the OP can put the pic back up; it was hilarious!

About a month ago, I walked 9 holes with 2 guys, John and Dick. John was 86 years old, and Dick was 79. They have been playing partners for 30 some years. They both struck the ball fairly well and were excellent putters. It happened to be John's birthday that day and he got a hole in one on a 120 yard par 3. One of the coolest things that I've ever seen on the golf course. The story is, however, that John and Dick played this golf course last year on John's 85th birthday and John had a hole in one on the same hole. That is unreal, IMO. All three of us shot in the low 40's. I hope I am able to do that when I'm 80. Enjoy a nice day on the golf course pushing my cart. What could be better?

Thanks for explaining, I thought I must be an idiot or something because I couldn't get anything out of the story... Although I was sorta hoping that his "partner" in the bucket would turn out to be an 80-year-old gay midget.

You sure it was there to begin with? Your post doesn't show an "edited" or anything.

Did you post it on photobucket or something? Twitpic? One of the other hundred or so photo sharing sites (Flickr may be the best - the free account is fine and still lets you use your images elsewhere). Just use the [img] tags and post it again.

I played 9 holes with an 85 year old guy who used a pushcart. Nice guy, good conversation. Another great benefit of golf!

    • Ahh the old classic "nobody agrees with me so I don't want to talk about it anymore"
    • @anaveragehacker, you’ve been ignorant this whole time and now you’re being disrespectful. Not a great combo. You asked what the rules were and we told you. You complained about them and we told you why they were the way they are. The “who is the committee?” Question has been answered a few times. Dave and I are Rules Officials and the other people replying know the rules far better than you, so the fact that we are all disagreeing with you should say something. this thread is going nowhere and your original question has been answered several times.
    • What is this committee I keep hearing about? We’re a small league playing at a county course. And these are temporary issues that may be gone in a day or two. In any case, I wish more people agreed with me. It seems that trying to convince golfers to modernize rules is like trying to change the Bible. You guys are so serious it kind of proves my point. Other sports make adjustments for  field conditions etc during lower level play. This isn’t life and death here, it’s sport. No need to keep arguing. I have my opinion and you have yours.
    • Yeah, I agree that some of the charts are hard to make sense of. That short game chart is showing how often a short game shot ends up within a certain distance. The orange bar is all shots, the green bar is for shots within 25 yards, and the blue bar is for shots between 25 and 50 yards. I just play around with all of it and will figure it out. I would suggest just diving in and see what jumps out and work on that.
    • PGA Tour players weight shift to their lead foot way sooner and to a higher % than amateur. I would say it is something like close to 90% lead foot at impact for PGA Tour player. For Amateurs it could be under 50%. You need to get the weight transfer over more and sooner. You can't rely on the feeling of finishing on the lead foot as validation you did so.
