the 5 piece golf ball sounds good but the bridgestone b330s is the best golf ball on the market right now.

the only reason why provs are number one on tour is because the titleist golf balls that the pros get are different from the ones we buy at pro shops.

Well why not do away with this whole "N-piece" paradigm and move to continuously varying materials? Just find a magic material that can cure to be high-compression in the center, low-compression at the edge, and varies continuously in between. Then you can market an INFINITE-PIECE golf ball technology.

That'd be tough to do. Unless you want to start spending $15 per ball or something. It's much, much easier to build things up in layers.

I have been "testing" balls all year ...hands down the Pro V is the BEST ball (for me anyways)
I tried the B-330 series, the "infamous" GAMER, blah blah blah
nothing even compares to the Pro V - why do you think everyone compares the "next big thing" to it ALL THE TIME?????

i finally went back to the Pro V1 this year and since using it, my scores have dropped significantly
its easier to control off the T, spins much better around the greens and checks up when you tell it to
i dunno Taylor Made, you have your work cut out for you w this ball

You should pick up the MAXFLI C3's. They are the same balls as the TP REDS I believe. $14.99 @ Dick's Sporting Goods. I bought me 3 Dozen balls.

With 5 layers it's probably going to cost way over anything on the market so far.

i don't think it'll cost anything over those crazily priced Mizuno balls....those joints are like $80 a dozen!

No, the balls alot of tour pros play are not the ball that you buy at the pro shop... for example, tiger had played a variation of the one plat for a very long time, up until last years model, (with the red arrows around one platinum) tiger had used a plat that was not released to the public. Stewart cink for example, uses a specially made nike one tour, it has a softer cover or something of that nature, and i know that alot of people play prototype balls, like i have found proto balls from cally, a tm that said, "TP Tour" on it, and have even found one of those penta TP's :) verrry nice ball.. cant see why anyone wouldnt want to try it..

Players with unique balls are in a very, very small minority. 99% or so of the pros play a ball you can buy on the shelf (or could have bought, in the case of some pros who use a version of a ball from four or five years ago).

It's the worlds first 5 piece golf ball.

The goal for the Penta was to optimize its performance in five key areas: with the driver, long-irons, middle irons, short irons and partial wedge shots. (Get it? "Penta," five.) The cover of the Penta TP is made of a soft urethane material to promote a high-spin rate, but lower trajectory on wedge shots and pitches for more control. The outer mantle layer, which can be found directly under the white cover, is the most-easily compressed. Of the three mantle layers in the Penta TP, it's the fastest, and TaylorMade says it is designed to create optimal spin and flight conditions when ball speeds are below 120 mph (short irons for tour pros). The middle mantle layer is semi-firm, and TaylorMade designed it to be compressible on shots with a ball speed between 120 and 140 mph (mid-irons). According to a TaylorMade memo, the inner mantle is designed to create high-launching, low-spinning shots with a ball speed between 140 and 160 mph (long irons). Encased under all those layers is the core, which is made from an extremely fast, low-compression material that only the fastest swingers will be able to activate. However, TaylorMade says those who do can expect more ball speed and less spin on drives for increased distance. TaylorMade expects the Penta TP to be widely used by its Tour staff players, and the ball has not only been tested by Garcia and Goosen, but also by Dustin Johnson, Jason Day and Justin Rose. But TaylorMade says the ball should also appeal to slower-swinging players and a wide range of amateurs because it has been designed to increase ball speed (for more distance) and provide feel around the greens.

Looks good but only the strongest hitters will be able to unlock it's potential.

When it goes on sale will you buy it? Should it go on sale?

Absolutely NOT true. The ball is designed so that it can be used by any player wanting the playing qualities of a premium ball. I've used it (I still have the last of a box of 5 in my bag now) and my 90-95 swing speed gets all I want from this ball. Don't make such statements if you haven't used the Penta ball. You don't know what you are talking about.

When it goes on sale will you buy it?

.

I will definitely buy the TM Penta TP. It gives me everything I ever asked from a ball. Prices should be equivalent to a Pro V1, but the Penta is a better ball.

My review will be up in a little while but I've played it extensively and I've yet to find a weakness. Easily the best ball I've ever played.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
