Was doing some online shopping and was wondering what you all consider appropriate or not:
white golf shoes-better paired with white or black socks?
Black golf shoes- better with white or black socks?
This obviously assumes low cut and that shorts are being worn not pants.

or could you care less?

Yes, I'm bored right now.

JMO but black socks ankle length or longer with shorts demonstrates fashion unconsciousness. If your socks will show white is best. To be safe in any situation wear the shorter style that only comes to the top of your shoes then white or black wont matter.

It ain't bragging if you can do it.

IMHO black ankle length socks can only be worn with black golf shoes, black shorts, black belt.... other than that black socks should NEVER be worn with shorts... someone needs to teach this lesson in the Iowa school system based on what I see here in Hawaii

If shoes = black, socks = black.
If shoes = white, socks = white or socks = black.

Also, i think you can wear black shoes with shorts, but they must be low-cut sock. For that matter, you should always wear low-cut socks with shorts.

actually I believe that the only place socks and shorts have a place is on the golf course, or doing some physical activity.. BBall, running, cycling, hiking, etc. Other than that socks should never be worn with shorts... or for that matter shoes shouldnt be worn with shorts...except boat shoes.. and they should be worn sockless as well. Then again I was raised in CA and now live in HI,,, so my fashion sense is off :) all of you in the fly over states seem to have a different opinion.

I would probably go with white socks with shorts regardless of shoe color. Exception - khaki socks with khaki shorts are OK, if you have khaki socks.

Athletic style white socks are easier to find than black ones, and athletic socks usually have better cushioning.

I only wear pants, so I don't have to worry about this.

This is why I LOVE my golf sandals! no socks needed ...
But since that doesn't work well in October in Wisconsin, I go with white socks with white shoes, black socks with black shoes, and always low cut socks with shorts.

no offense, but golf sandals should be against the law. those things are horrible.

They actually are on several of the courses I play on. The chemicals and other applications put on the course have resulted in lots of nast foot issues. I havent actually seen a set of golf sandals for sale in a while.

What I put in bold. I have one pair of golf shoes (Footjoy Contours, mostly white with black and brown accents), but I have white, beige, and black ankle socks, and I wear them all with those shoes.

With my Footjoy Sandals, I don't wear any socks.

Yeah, gotta love the self appointed golf fashion police. Relax... we won't make you wear them.

Since just about the only footgear I wear in the summer is sandals, on or off the course, I often get to the course without any socks. It's just natural to wear sandals when I play too.

My shoes are white, so I wear white no-show or low ankle socks.

My playing partner's shoes are black, and he wears black no-show or low ankle socks.

I wear them for comfort, I'm not overly concerned with fashion or coordinating my clothes.

when wearing shorts, I go with black no-show socks with my black FootJoys.

I wear black socks with any shoes I have. I have some footjoy myjoys that are white with cyan trim and a shark logo on the side for my high school golf team, and some other black footjoys that I wear occaisonally. My socks show about 1/2'' above my shoes. They don't look bad at all I don't know why you are all ratting on black socks lol.

    • No Relief When Clearly Unreasonable to Play Ball. There is no relief under Rule 16.1: When playing the ball as it lies would be clearly unreasonable because of something from which the player is not allowed to take free relief (such as when a player is unable to make a stroke because of where the ball lies in a bush), or  When interference exists only because a player chooses a club, type of stance or swing or direction of play that is clearly unreasonable under the circumstances. Either/both of the above would seem to apply
